Material Research Scientist/Engineer Job Overview We are seeking experienced professionals to conduct innovative research in one or more areas, including material science and engineering, additive manufacturing, corrosion, modeling and nondestructive material characterization. Experience with aerospace structures, modeling and optimization, testing and sensing is preferred. Candidates with U.S. citizenship or legal permanent resident status is required. Job Duties · Conduct analytical studies, modeling and experimentation to guide design and manufacture of metallic and composite materials/structures. · Participate in the research and development of innovative sensors, algorithms and advanced solutions in the areas of nondestructive characterization of materials. · Pursue research in computational material science, material design, development and application, work closely with project managers and team members on research projects. · Successful candidates are expected to continue and expand existing programs and write research proposals for new research directions. Required Skills & Education · Strong knowledge background in material science (metallurgy and composites) and mechanical behavior of materials. · 3 years experience in experimental and modeling of metal and composite material/structures. · Proficient in material characterization, testing, and behavior analysis. · Ph.D. or Master's degree in Material Science, Mechanical, Aerospace or related field. · Strong written and communication skills Preferred Skills · Experience in one or more of the following fields: additive manufacturing, composite materials, NDE, modeling and optimization. · Capability of Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME), thermodynamic modeling, multiscale and multiphysics modeling. · Knowledge of FEM, meshless or particle based method. · Programming Languages: ANSYS/ABAQUS, Matlab, Labview, C/C++/C#, Python · Experience with technical report and proposal writing Candidates with U.S. citizenship or legal permanent resident status is required.
