Octo Consulting Group is seeking an Enterprise Cloud Architect to complement a mid-sized team responsible for the oversight of IT program operations on behalf of a federal civilian agency. The team consists of subject matter experts who conduct oversight of various IT contractors for compliance with operational parameters as established by their specific contracts. You will interface with professionals from the Government PMO, contracting office, various stakeholder groups, and management, acquisitions, budget, engineering, enterprise architecture, security, configuration management, network infrastructure, and cloud domains. * Provide subject matter expertise with moving traditional IT datacenter services to a shared services environment to enable future network architectures * Provide technical expertise with adopting cloud collaboration tools * Support the agency's requirement to comply with President IT Modernization initiative to include encryption data in transit, encrypting data at rest, multi-factor authentication, least privilege, application whitelisting and mobile device management. * Provide expertise with Principles of Cloud-Oriented Security Protections * Provide subject matter expertise to help ensure the agency complies with Federal Information Security Modernization Act of 2014 and all other federal security requirements * Support modernizing and securing the agency's High-Risk High Value Assets * Verify and analyze existing/proposed system configurations, processes, solutions, and architectures to ensure alignment to the agency's cloud strategies * Provide recommended solutions to optimize in the hosting environment * Conduct system architecture and configuration reviews for new or modernized versions of agency systems such as full network, systems releases, partial releases, or patch and test of software modules. * Review any new systems designs to ensure they are properly configured to the network * Review business processes and provide recommendations on business process improvements * Prove recommendation on seamless integration of other services provided by vendors in the agency * Verify and analyze * Assist Government stakeholders to understand and implement best practices around advanced cloud-based solutions, including how to scale the existing cloud solution and performing gap analyses of proposed solutions * Architect and design solutions for Cloud platforms * Lead discussions with clients on business requirements and technical solutions * Develop and implement internal systems, processes, and standards that are consistent across the agency and in line with EA for cloud platforms * Provide guidance of the strategic direction and roadmaps related to taking client systems/applications/services to the cloud * Provide guidance and best practices in designing and implementing in the cloud * Participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, and high availability in the cloud * Recommend architecture to meet business requirements * Ensure all infrastructure components meet proper performance and capacity standards * Provide technical oversight, review, and quality control * Act as an escalation point/SME for cloud related technical issues and decisions * Act as a trusted advisor for our Federal customer to foster a long-term relationship * Identify and develop new opportunities within the customer environment where they can continue to scale the cloud environment * Maintain technical certifications as required by the position Skills & Requirements * At least 7 years of cloud architecture implementation and management * Knowledge of current and planned industry cloud architecture trends and analysis * Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) - Cloud Platform/Infrastructure * AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional Desired: -- * Experience with the following systems and technologies: * Department of Education Central Automated Processing System (EDCAPS) * EDFacts * EDSTAR * Red Hat * Ubuntu * CentOS * Windows * Network Architecture * Transit Virtual Private Clouds * Works well in small to large teams * Presents well-formulated recommendations to task area leads * Excellent communicator (writing, speaking, listening) with experience advising Government PMOs * Excellent knowledge and use of the MS Office suite (Word; Excel; PowerPoint; Project; Visio) to prepare documents, spreadsheets, and presentations * Experience with large, complex IT projects and organizations * Experience working with architecture frameworks such as Zachman, FEA, and DoDAF * Certified Enterprise Architect and/or TOGAF certification Education: -- Bachelor's Degree is required (Engineering or Computer Science is preferred) Clearance: -- US Citizenship and Top Secret clearance required About Octo Consulting Group, Inc.
