What You Will Do :
Create detailed plan of action and milestones using MS Project
Develop initial hypotheses on data governance related
improvements
Perform stakeholder identification and management
Conduct interviews with client stakeholders to assess current
capabilities relative to leading data practices
Collect and analyze documentation (e.g., org charts, data
governance charters and data stewardship models, data standards,
data policies processes, and procedures, etc.)
Develop gap analysis relative to leading data practices and
determine the current state of maturity across multiple
dimensions
Document current-state and future-state materials in MS Project
Socialize materials with relevant stakeholders
Determine the target maturity levels across leading data governance
practices
Propose future-state data governance framework recommendations
(e.g., alternative organizational structures, scope of
decision-making, roles and responsibilities, data standards, data
policies, procedures and processes, and data governance technology
capabilities
Prioritize recommendations
Create a roadmap to execute the approved recommendation
Identify projects, including quick hits, based on recommended
improvements
Create a roadmap to execute the approved recommendations
Identify high-level resource needs, cost estimates, risks and
dependencies
Define change management and communications plans to effectively
drive change
Define and approve the data governance framework
Create and update data policies (e.g., Data Access Policy, Logical
Data Model Standard)
Define roles and responsibilities (e.g., Data Stewards, governing
body roles)
Define and update data governance processes and procedures
What You Will Need :
Data Skills:
Strong understanding of the data lifecycle
Proven experience in defining, implementing, and operating a data
governance bodies, including typical data governance policies,
processes, and standards
Proven experience in creating data governance operating models and
charters
Proven experience in defining and implementing data governance key
performance indicators
Proven experience in defining and implementing and operating data
governance bodies
Working knowledge of data management industry best practices such
as DAMA DMBOK, CMMI DMM, EDM Council DCAM
Ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups to get buy-in on,
develop, and implement data management standards, policies, and
best practices
Experience developing data governance policies and procedures
Core Consulting Skills:
Ability to support the development of quality client
deliverables
Demonstrate a depth of analysis and critical thinking
Demonstrates ability to leverage and tailor various industry
methodologies and frameworks to the needs of clients
Track record of success in assessing and modernizing data
governance capabilities in various organizations
Team player with an energetic attitude
Strong organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively in
a team
Demonstrates flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks
Strong written and oral communication skills
Experience with project and program management best practices
What Would Be Nice To Have :
Experience in a top-tier commercial or public sector consulting
firm
Data Management certification from an industry recognized standards
organization demonstrating knowledge of metadata management, data
governance, and data cataloging
Working knowledge of federal requirements impacting data, such as
the Federal Data Strategy, the Evidence Act, and other relevant
laws and regulations that impact data
US Citizen or Green Card holder preferred
The successful candidate must not be subject to employment
restrictions from a former employer (such as a non-compete) that
would prevent the candidate from performing the job
responsibilities as described.
Compensation may vary based on education, skills, experience and
location. Selected candidate must be local and able to work from
one of the following offices: Tysons, VA (HQ); Atlanta, Boston,
Tampa, Houston, San Francisco, Denver, Boulder, Durham, Chicago,
Washington DC as needed. Client meetings may be required
in-person.
This is an exempt level role that may require more than 40 hours of
work per week.
Selected Candidate must be able to work Eastern Standard Hours.
The annual salary range for this position is
$67,400.00-$134,800.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide
range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets,
experience and training, security clearances, licensure and
certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
