security surveillance, and support services. Summary:CPMG is
seeking a Transportation Industry Analyst. Essential Job
Functions:
- Conducting analyses and responding to consultation
requests
- Assist the Board in building the investigatory recordfor
example, by analyzing dispatching records to identify the causes
and locations that are responsible for excessive train delays; by
evaluating existing train schedules for their impacts on delays and
OTP; and by assessing the total train traffic of all types
(historical and projected) over a given route, to determine the
facilitys proneness to congestion and resultant delays and OTP
impacts.
- Analyzing past operations, or predicting future operations
under various traffic demand, fixed plant, equipment, and other
scenarios, the individual would have experience in inputting to,
running, and interpreting the results of, train performance
calculators, and simulator programs encompassing both scheduled and
unscheduled traffic.
- Assist the Board in determining the accuracy of data collected.
For example, they would evaluate how conductors log delays.
- Responsible for creating plans for improving congestion and
reducing OTP delays.
- Analyst would also be consulted on technical matters related to
options for precisely defining a rail carrier's failure to provide
preference to Amtrak, on options for attributing delays or
substandard OTP to failures to provide preference, and if needed,
on factors involved in the calculation of damages under the
statute. Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- 10+ years of experience working for a freight or passenger rail
carrier.
- Ability to do light computer coding and the ability to do
statistics work Minimum Qualification:
- A degree in engineering, operations research, transportation,
logistics, or an allied field, together with extensive freight
and/or passenger rail operations knowledge and significant
analytical experience. Back
