This individual will have proven people and process management skills, a strong audio/video background and technical proficiency in related hardware and software.The Video Production Manager will be involved with coordination of resources, operational and project oversight of live studio recordings and related administrative aspects. The position will work on location at various recording studios to capture assets for SANS OnDemand courses. This role will also supervise a small group of contractors and SANS employees while on location at studio recordings.This position consists of about 40% travel and partial remote work from home. The Video Production Manager will report to the Manager of Enhanced Content for OnDemand.Key ResponsibilitiesTravel to and work at approximately 12 (twelve) SANS studio recordings per year.Oversee the on-site production team and assist with the following:Setup and test video and audio technology and systems for recording content for OnDemandTest instructor equipment prior to the start of recording and train instructors on the best practices for teaching in an online environmentDuring the recording, manage and monitor operations daily, report statuses and escalate issues in a timely mannerTroubleshoot issues and coordinate solutions in the live production environmentPerform quality assurance checks both during live recording and after course sections have been completed for optimal delivery of content to post-productions teams including course builders, animators, and the quality assurance teamManage recoded files to ensure proper transmission, encoding, and receipt for consumptionGear handling and management; receive, inspect, move, breakdown, and prepare for shipmentsProduce SANS OnDemand course marketing videos as neededUtilize departmental support systems and processes (Smartsheet, Confluence, Dropbox, etc.)Prepare video assets for animatorsParticipate in creative calls and scoping of course enhancementsTrack and manage equipment inventoryMake recommendations about updates and improvements to processes and equipmentOther duties as assigned.Core Skills and BehaviorsCommunication / Manage and Grow Talent / Core Values / Operational Excellence / Problem Solving / Influencing / Results Driven / Leadership / Self-AwarenessSkills, Experience and EducationA minimum of 4 years of relevant experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience (must include experience in a video production environment)Demonstrated skill with audio and video editing software platformsExtensive knowledge of video production equipmentExcellent organization, planning, and communication skillsA collaborative mindset and ability to work with varying and changing needsAbility to work independentlyAbility to manage numerous projects simultaneously and meet deadlinesAbility to operate and carry camera and lighting equipment (up to 50 lbs.)Ability to work 10-hour days and weekends during studio recordingsEqual Opportunity EmployerSANS is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
