Sr. Data Analyst

OVERALL JOB SUMMARY

The Sr. Data Analyst, under limited to no supervision, has responsibility for providing programming (SAS, Python, SQL) and data management support for clinical research studies from start-up through final locked database. This position participates in project initiation, conduct, and closing activities that include, but are not limited to, project-specific document preparation, internal and external team meetings, clinical trial site and customer communication, and on-going monitoring of the quality of data. The Sr. Data Analyst collaborates with other internal groups as well as customer data management representatives to ensure successful data delivery to the customer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality

Writing/modifying/reviewing active production programs of moderate to advance complexity to support clinical research efforts

Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports

Ensuring quality results by adhering to established standards and procedures

Maintaining programs, project files, audit trails, and data libraries

Filter and clean data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems

Complying with customer guidelines, and company Quality System Procedures, system development life cycle, system validation and systems change control related to data management and analysis

Maintaining proficiency with respect to statistical programming and methodology and in applying new and varied methods

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Minimum 5 years of experience in statistical programming and data management programming preferred

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques. Experience in application of knowledge and skills in a highly organized fashion while adhering to regulatory guidelines, Quality System Procedures and customer expectations. Experience with the latest CDISC standards (SDTM and ADaM).

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Certification in SAS required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES TECHNICAL SKILLS: Thorough understanding of clinical data management and statistical analysis processes through all phases of the clinical trial life cycle. Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Python, ETL frameworks, etc.). Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SAS etc). Knowledgeable about data and file structures, database design and output options. Good knowledge of relational databases/clinical data management systems. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality with clinical data and customer proprietary data. Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in the use of computer systems, including Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Familiarity with applicable regulatory guidance and rules, e.g., 21 CFR Part 11, FDA Guidance. Ability to successfully apply above skills, knowledge and abilities across a portfolio of studies or with a franchise customer. Ability to set and meet timelines or be able to recognize and schedule changes in response to project demands. Ability to recognize, evaluate and develop plans to mitigate project related risk. Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOP) and develop new SOPs

COMMUNICATION SKILLS (VERBAL/WRITTEN): Strong command of English language and grammar.
