This is a full-time underrepresented minority faculty internship position within the English and Reading department. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate, support and teach in an engaging manner. The selected candidate must demonstrate that s/he is currently enrolled in a graduate program leading to completion of a Master's or Doctoral degree in English Composition/Rhetoric or a graduate program that would lead to teaching English composition courses at the collegiate level. Further, the selected candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach college-level composition, preferably with knowledge of working with a diverse student population. The successful candidate will be committed to teaching in a multi-cultural, two-year environment, and welcome the opportunity to work with students with diverse learning abilities. This is a PAID underrepresented minority faculty internship.Job Description--Duties and Responsibilities:Teach up to 7 credit hours of courses per semester that range from integrated English and reading to college-level composition;Teach a flexible schedule of courses that may include day, night, early morning, weekend and/or accelerated sections;--Teach courses in a variety of formats ranging from face-to-face to distance, when needed;Engage students in their learning through active and collaborative learning approaches.Meet with students outside of class to assist them with being successful college students;Apply culturally relevant pedagogies to the teaching and learning process;Advise students on appropriate courses for transfer and degree completion;Tutor students in the Writing, Reading and Language Center;Observe other faculty teaching; meet and discuss the observation;Incorporate the use of educational enterprise platform such as Backboard and other relevant technology into instruction, including inexpensive or no-cost resources in the development and delivery of instruction;Serve on department, discipline, campus or college committee.Engage in professional development activities such as complete readings on teaching and student success; attend professional development activities offered by ELITE;Required Qualifications:Enrollment in the last year of study of a graduate program leading to the Master's degree in English Composition/Rhetoric, English Education, Secondary education with a concentration in English or Reading, or a closely related field.Knowledge of college-level teaching in English Composition/Rhetoric or Integrated English and Reading.--Ability to support student success strategies to help students succeed.Ability to engage students in their learning.Ability to use word processing programs, basic internet applications, and basic database navigation.Ability to use an educational enterprise platform such as Blackboard in instructional delivery.Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.Preferred Qualifications:Enrollment in a graduate program of study leading to the Ph.
