Summary This position is located in the Special Security Operations Division, Office of Information Security, Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS/IS/SSO), Department of State (DOS). You will be responsible for assisting with implementing and overseeing plans, policies and procedures necessary to safeguard intelligence information, including intelligence sources and methods, and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) information. Responsibilities Maintain close relationships with equivalent and more senior officials of the Intelligence Community (IC); ensure the secure receipt, transmission, and disposition of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) for the Department. Conduct comprehensive and often complex security surveys/ inspections of Department of State (DOS) offices and bureaus to ensure compliance with existing regulations concerning the handling, control and safeguarding of SCI. Develops and administers comprehensive and ongoing security awareness programs designed to inform DOS personnel of their duties and responsibilities for the protection of SCI. Reviews Intelligence Community (IC) directives which govern the protection of SCI and develops policies and procedures for DOS implementation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants applying for the GS-12 must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Experience implementing security requirements ensuring compliance with applicable rules and regulations for protection of sensitive information. - Experience conducting briefings on a wide range of security issues. - Experience providing training regarding the rules and regulations for protecting sensitive information. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position. Education Education requirements do not apply to this vacancy announcement.
