Job Description:
The program you will be supporting has a mission to provide
development, security, and operations (DevSecOps) support to U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) with a focus on
development, operations, and modernization of the Agency's
Enterprise Data Warehouse/Data Lake. The team utilizes open-source,
AWS Cloud, and Big Data technologies, agile project management
practices, and modern DevSecOps delivery to provide the business
intelligence support systems to meet the reporting, data analytics,
and machine learning/artificial intelligence needs critical to
USCIS leadership, data/business analysts, data scientists, and
other decision-makers.
Requirements:
- Perform data analysis, data verification, data validation, and
testing from data ingested from source systems into the USCIS Data
Lake
- Use machine learning techniques to improve the quality of data or
product offerings
- Verify data quality to ensure accurate analysis and reporting
- Develop models, using machine learning, or incorporating advanced
programming
- Find patterns and trends in datasets to uncover insights
- Communicate recommendations to other teams and senior staff
- Interact with officially designated product owners, system
owners, and business owners of the source systems to understand
transactional system data models, requirements, and ETL logic
- Contribute to an environment of continuous improvement by helping
the team identify areas of the development process that can be
improved and helping the team commit to and deliver improvements in
those processes
- Actively participate in Agile release and sprint planning, sprint
grooming, artifact creation, sprint testing, demonstrations and
retrospectives and solution releases.
- Execute other activities related to development work, such as
participate in meetings, provide briefings, presentations and other
support materials that will promote the program, assist in
achieving user buy-in, and explain technical concepts to
non-technical audiences
- Stay on top of innovations in the data science field
Required Skills:
- Advanced understanding of Data Science/Machine
Learning/Artificial Intelligence
- 3+ years performing data science work. Experience in Data
Warehouse/Lake environment preferred
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience with Apache Spark or
Databricks
- 3+ years of proficiency with programming languages including
Python and SQL
- 3+ years of proficiency in supervised learning and unsupervised
learning
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group,
executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
- Ability to triage issues, react well to changes, work with teams
and ability to multi-task on multiple projects
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills demonstrated by the
ability to assimilate new information,
- Well-versed in the use of Microsoft Office Tools
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of Agile, including Scrum and Kanban, and management
tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
- Experience working in an AWS Cloud environment
- Experience with industry standard version control tools (i.e.,
GitHub)
Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline preferred -
Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree, or
the equivalent combination of education, professional training, and
work experience.
Location: Reston, VA - Currently fully remote due to COVID-19.
Clearance: Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a government
agency Suitability Clearance. USCIS Entry on Duty (EOD)
preferred
