Description Job Description:The Defense Group of Leidos has an
immediate opening in a fast paced operations and development lab
environment supporting a 24x7x365 Research Development community.
We are seeking an experienced mid-level Linux Engineer. The
successful candidate will be responsible for designing and planning
system hardware and software solutions, so the ability to work
independently is a must. Candidate should have at least 2+ years
Linux experience including installation, integration and
maintenance. Experience should include RPM package management,
patching and updating Linux workstations and servers and the
ability to analyze and resolve hardware and software problems. The
selected engineer will maintain systems in production and
development, provide systems design, planning and support for our
data center and customer.Candidate will be working with a small
team of Linux and Windows Systems Engineers supporting our
customers' technical requirements and maintaining or developing our
operational networks. Candidate should be experienced with
virtualization technologies, have some networking knowledge, and
should be familiar with DoD information assurance requirements and
STIG checklists. There will be daily interaction with the team,
customers and our Government representatives.Primary
Responsibilities:Design, installation and implementation of Linux
hardware and software solutions to meet requirements.Support
changes to the operational and development environments and
communicating those changes to the team, leadership and
customers.Security hardening via STIGs and vulnerability patching
of Linux assets.Installation of COTS software including specialty
modelling and simulation software.Creation of scripts to support
the management of systems and tools.Baseline management, ensuring
accountability for products and versions.Maintain environment with
current releases of firmware and operating systems levels.Develop
and maintain standard documentation such as work instructions,
standard operating procedures and processes.Perform daily system
monitoring, server integrity checks, review system and application
logs, and verify scheduled job completion (backups, etc.).Maintain
server and application inventory and manage corresponding
licenses.Basic Qualifications:BS degree and 2+ years of prior
relevant experience or additional relevant working experience in
lieu of degree.Must have a current DoD Secret Clearance.Current,
unexpired, Comptia Security+CE (or equivalent) - will be verified
before hiringLinux installation, management, troubleshooting,
technical analysis experience.Microsoft Windows 2016, 2019 server
experience.Scripting experience.Preferred Qualifications:Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 7/8 engineering/administration experience.DoD Top
Secret clearance.DoD IA requirements (STIGs, vulnerability scans,
patching, etc.).Understanding the management and configuration of
SELinux and how it can affect application runtime and
security.Experience with Red Hat Satellite.Experience with
Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana (ELK).Pay Range:Pay Range
$63,050.00 - $97,000.00 - $130,950.00The Leidos pay range for this
job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of
compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending
an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the
job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as
well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable
bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
