Job Description:

The Mortgage Processor works with members to collect all loan documentation necessary to obtain final approval and move the loan through to closing. Responsible for performing a variety of loan documentation duties on complex loan packages to ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures for loan products. Must be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal. Functions include: processing, and compliance for loan products; interpreting policies while analyzing applicant, property and documentation; ordering all required verifications, documentation and subsequent follow ups; may provide guidance and training to other loan documentation team members. Manages an assigned pipeline of loans and/or assigns new loans to other loan team members. Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acting as the primary point-of-contact for members through processing and closing of purchases and refinances. Uses written and verbal communication skills to keep members apprised of their loan status and obtain all required documentation. Operates in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to Reg B (ECOA), Reg C, Reg X, Reg Z and all Dodd Frank related regulations.
  • Reviewing applications for compliance, regulatory and loan documentation and processing Conventional Mortgage Loans. Inputs loan applications received by mail or facsimile.
  • Ensure integrity of loan decisions and escalating any issues that impact loan decisioning and updating system-status as necessary for review by underwriter. Using the decision-path of AUS technology to gather credit-documentation from customers and third-party vendors. Ensuring that loans are processed in accordance with Congressional Federal's policies and procedures.
  • Ordering Appraisal, Flood and Title if needed. Following-up on receipt of third-party documentation and services and documentation requested from customer.
  • Prepares and mails initial disclosure, loan approvals and closing documents.Qualifications and Skills required
    • Two to Five years of similar or related experience.
    • A high school education or GED, however college degree preferred.
    • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
    • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature.
    • Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
    • Must have experience working in a fast-paced loan processing environment (or similar).
    • Employee must possess a high degree of self-motivation and initiative, as well as a high degree of attention to detail.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. 2+ years of Conventional Loan Processing experience both purchase and refinance.
    • Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to the mortgage-banking industry (i.e. TILA, ECOA, etc.)
    • Expertise in and experience providing value-added customer service in a fast-paced environment.
    • Experience using automated financial- and/or loan-tracking systems.
    • Working knowledge of business mathematics.
