The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) strengthens democracy around the globe through private enterprise and market-oriented reform. CIPE's key program areas include enterprise ecosystems, democratic governance, business advocacy, anti-corruption & ethics, and trade.Position: -Chief of Staff Reports To: Executive DirectorSCOPE: This full-time, regular, exempt position is based in Washington, D.C. The Chief of Staff will have the responsibility of working closely with the Executive Director ensuring CIPE's goals and initiatives are met. The position requires -a dedication to assisting an entire organization and its programs, including staff in Washington D.C., field offices, and international consultants. Responsibilities:Strategic and management support

  • Work with Executive Director to manage relationships with the board of directors and employees. Translate organizational priorities into executive priorities annually, quarterly, monthly, and weekly.
  • Serving as an in-house consultant to the Executive Director and colleagues for a variety of special projects and initiatives.
  • Facilitating annual planning activities, including direct-report performance evaluations, off sites, leadership retreats, and working closely with colleagues to ensure that the CIPE's strategy, budget, and operating plans align to maximize the organization's impact year-to-year.
  • Respond to inquiries on behalf of the Executive Director, if applicable.
  • Oversee strategic business initiatives from ideation to implementation.
  • Work with the leadership team to ensure the CIPE's compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standards are met.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to establish long term objectives and long-range goals.
  • Proactively identify potential strategic challenges, recommend solutions, and works collaboratively to resolve and/or mitigate the issues.
  • Provide thought partnership to the Executive Director on organization's strategic direction and the executive leadership team's priorities, including strategy development, evaluate new ideas and business opportunities, and conducting analysis and research to support key decisions.Operations
    • Ensuring internal processes reflect the CIPE's core values and maximize the work of donors, partners, and CIPE employees.
    • Participate in and provide feedback on organizational planning, prioritization, and processes.Team building
      • Planning and staffing team development activities, including regular staff meetings, special events, and culture-building activities
      • Works closely with peers on the Communications team to manage internal and external communications for the Executive Director and their office, working in collaboration with leadership and departments or regional teams.
      • Facilitate effective co-ordination on best practices, C-suite priorities and stakeholder engagements
      • Provide insight and analysis on the company's operations.
      • Assist the executive team members to determine and prioritize business strategies.
      • Performs other related duties to benefit the mission of the organization.Qualifications:
        • Bachelor's degree in related field is required.
        • An advanced degree in business administration, finance, or law is preferred, but not required.
        • 7-10 years of prior experience in strategy or management consulting, project management, or special projects roles
        • Prior experience working in or supporting the nonprofit sector organizations (schools, districts, nonprofits)
        • Extensive professional experience in executive management and/or operations management
        • Outstanding critical thinking and judgment skills; ability to make well-reasoned decisions, quickly when needed, in support of institutional and leadership's priorities.
        • Proven experience organizing and directing multiple teams and departments, including those located abroad/overseas
        • Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives
        • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required, i.e., the ability to communicate effectively verbally and through written correspondence as well as in communicating with individuals in one-on-one situations is critical.
        • Outstanding organization skills and the ability to build systems & introduce processes that help organize others.
        • Experience working with diverse communities, populations, and staff.
        • Highest level of integrity and management of confidential information.
        • Anticipate risks and identifies contingency plans and processes to prevent disruptions when risks occur.
        • Strong writing abilities, critical thinking skills, and analytical skills.
        • Detail oriented and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
