This position is one of three grant officer working to grow the number of grants the college manages. The position will assist college faculty and staff seek-out, write and obtain new awards as well as assist with the oversight and compliance of awards once awarded. Supports the operations of the Office of Grants and reports to the Director of Grants. Position requires management and overseeing of grant development and management with special emphasis on grant compliance ensuring proper stewardship of regulations and sponsor requirements.

The Grant Officer is responsible for the acquisition, implementation, compliance and closeout phases of select grants awarded to the College. Position requires knowledge and accurate interpretation of federal rules and regulations related to grants management, grants compliance, reporting requirements, and closeout procedures. Position requires sustained interaction with project personnel, multiple units, divisions, and campuses leadership and operational staff and offices of grants of awarding institutions. Position requires knowledge and understanding of NOVA operations and procedures. Position requires cross-training for pre-award proposal development and submission phase.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

* Excellent writing skills, particularly in writing and editing federal grant proposals, preferably for educational institutions.
* Familiarity with project budgeting.
* Familiarity with federal funding agencies, such as US Dept. of Education, National Science Foundation, and US Dept. of Labor.
* Ability to work well as a part of small team.
* Excellent communication skills, especially the abilities to listen and write well.

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or a combination of education, training, and experience.
* Significant experience in grant administration and compliance.
* Significant experience with accounting principles, grants and contracting issues.

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree
* Significant years of experience writing, editing, managing and monitoring federal, state and private grants.
* Experience working with institutions of higher education, preferably having experience working with community colleges.
* Experience with IT WORK Grants Database Software .
* Significant experience in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe software. Significant experience in Project Management.
* Significant experience with Grants Database Software.
