ABOUT THIS ROLE:

Our Department seeks to welcome a hands-on, service-oriented team player to its staff of professionals. The selected individual will be the Assistant to the Planning Director and serve as the Clerk to the Planning Commission. This will be an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment in which your creative ideas, suggestions and experience will be truly valued!

The selected candidate will perform a variety of other duties within the Department, including meeting deadlines and process timelines, providing customer service, performing research requests, maintaining public files, proofreading staff reports and presentations, and entering/retrieving information from electronic resources and databases. The selected candidate will also serve as the backup to the Planning Office's other boards, committees, and commissions.

PREFERENCES: The successful candidate will have

Strong administrative support skills, outstanding customer service skills; Excellent organization and written communication skills; Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously; Strong attention to detail; Skill with Microsoft Office Suite; particularly maintaining tasks and calendars in Outlook; Ability to prepare meeting agendas and minutes; Ability to show discretion when dealing with confidential/trusted information; Ability to coordinate events and/or meetings. Applicants will be part of a team environment; however, successful job performance will require applicants to be highly responsible and self-motivated. The selected applicant will have the ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment where deadlines and processes may need to be quickly shifted or adapted.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with night meetings 2-3 times per month

HIRING SALARY RANGE:$58,634 - $73,223

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or G.E.D. and 3 years of advanced administrative support experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this class typically require: standing, walking, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

Incumbents may be subjected to dusts, work space restrictions, and travel.
