Lifeguard / Pool Operator
Part Time
The Lifeguard / Pool Operator at Jill's House will ensure the safety of clients with special needs in their use of our indoor pool through maintaining a clean, safe facility and overseeing all pool use. While serving as the Lifeguard on duty, you are physically in the pool, actively supervising and engaging 1-4 clients with disabilities at a time. This is a 20 hour a week position with a extremely competitive hourly rate of $22-$25 per hour depending on your experience. We will even pay for your re-certification if needed. Role and Responsibilities: · Maintains constant supervision of clients using the pool, ensuring safe facility use · Responds to any emergencies until arrival of emergency medical services · Actively engages swimmers in the pool (as opposed to supervising from the pool deck) and physically assists individuals with physical limitations · Operates and maintains mechanical equipment in pool and pump room · Orders, handles, stores, and administers chemicals for pool operation · Monitors pool water chemistry and adjusts as necessary to maintain safe and sanitary conditions · Regulates water temperature and levels · Must be available for the following hours... Saturdays and Sundays between 9am-4pm year round Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 4pm-8pm during the school year Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 10am-2pm during the summer Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Lifeguard Certification
  • CPR Certification
  • Pool Operator Certification
  • 18 years of age or older
  • At least one year of lifeguarding experience
  • Must show proof of Covid vaccination Core Competencies:
    • Comfortable working with clients with special needs including varying levels of physical and/or intellectual ability, and behavioral challenges.
    • Safety conscientious and ability to consistently exercise good judgment.
    • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
    • Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
    • Knowledge of pool chemical maintenance and aquatic safety protocols.
    • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
    • Physically fit, strong, agile and dexterous.
    • Dependability and reliability. Environmental and Physical Conditions: The job operates in small indoor aquatic facility, primarily physically in the pool (as opposed to supervising from on-deck). It is a bromine pool. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, speak, hear, use hands, arms, stand, walk, stay on feet for several hours at a time, and lift at least 50 pounds. Jill's House is a Christian non-profit organization that loves and serves families raising children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 6-22) with intellectual disabilities through short-term, overnight respite care and holistic family support services.
