Job Description Vital Signs, LLC is looking to hire 3 (three) qualified typists to join our team to train to become certified TypeWell Transcribers. The right candidates would shadow our current transcribers while in training to become qualified Transcribers. A qualified TypeWell Transcriber is a quick typist that can transcribe meaning-for-meaning what is spoken during an assignment using the TypeWell software. The consumer receiving the service will view the transcription, in real-time, from the reader device, and will also be able to type in questions or comments that the provider can voice. In order to qualify for an interview, you must submit to a free qualifying test. Once you have submitted your resume to us, we will send you the link to take the test. This test is FREE and does not bind you to any agreement. You must be able to type at least 60 wpm with little to no errors. Note: This is NOT an office job, this is an on-site staff position located in/around the Baltimore, Washington DC, and Prince George's County areas once your training period is over. As a qualified Typewell Transcriber, you will provide services in classrooms at high schools, colleges, and universities located throughout the DMV. Your customers will typically include the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, people with Aspergers, Autism, and other disabilities. Important Information on the TypeWell Trainee Position: You would be hired as a PT staff member until you have completed and passed your TypeWell training program You would work an average of 4 hours per day M-F that would consist of a mix of shadowing and training Training on the TypeWell software would be done in the luxury of your own home Shadowing would be done remotely at this time but could consist of on-site training if the opportunities arise. Training must be completed no later than 12 weeks You will receive lower compensation while in training and a pay increase up to $10 more per hour upon completion of training (based on experience and training scores) Upon completion of training, you would become a FT employee with benefits The essential functions of a Transcriber, but are not limited to the following: Quick typists with strong listening skills and grammar skills Capture spoken content, word for word, into a written form, using the TypeWell software Create a high level, easy to read transcript Accurately complete assigned tasks/duties, projects, and paperwork promptly and within approved guidelines Work effectively in a team environment; receive support from and provide support to colleagues Maintain professionalism through appearance, attitude, and posture Possess the ability to quickly learn and implement new and changing technologies Identify and upload specific vocabulary that will be used in the classrooms Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High school diploma, equivalent GED required, college degree preferred Passing the TypeWell basic skills course with a qualified passing score Must have a minimum of 60 wpm with little to no errors Outstanding oral and written communication skills Must have reliable transportation Require little to no supervision Excellent time management skills Ability to troubleshoot computer or networking problems with or without support Important Information on TypeWell Certification: TypeWell training takes 8-12 weeks to complete Training can be completed in the comfort of your own home The test is comprised of three parts: Typing speed Grammar Listening The training course will teach you how to transcribe using the TypeWell software (http://www.typewell.com/course.html) You must have a laptop that meets the standard requirements that are found at http://support.typewell.com/customer/portal/articles/1259451 ------transcriber------ laptop------requirements Perks: Paid semi-monthly Direct Deposit payments Full Benefits (FT employees only) Medical, Dental, Vision, Supplemental Life, Free Life Ins., PTO, Paid Holidays, and More Next steps: If you are interested, please email us your resume outlining your typing experience and we will respond with the testing information.
