(IMSG) www.imsg.com, leading a Scientific and Technical Support Team (IMSG Team, consisting of IMSG, Inc. and subcontracting companies) is looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Specialist to support NOAA's Algorithm Scientific Software Integration and System Transition Team (ASSISTT) in College Park, Maryland. ASSISTT specializes in transitioning scientific software applications from research to operations. We support the integration and transition tasks for several NOAA and non-NOAA weather satellites by ensuring that the product algorithms are brought up to operational standards. ASSISTT works with science teams and stakeholders to: conduct a standard set of project reviews; generate a standard set of documentation; develop and refine requirements; track risks and mitigations; clean code for coding/security, apply common data formats, metadata and compliances; adhere to standard languages, tools, and libraries; test software; validate products, perform configuration management; and prepare the algorithm package for delivery.Eligible candidates must demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, possess the ability to plan ahead and be customer support focused. This position is responsible for supporting assigned projects during its entire life cycle.ResponsibilitiesROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Work with stakeholders to facilitate technical coordination throughout the transition to operations phasePlan tasks and align the transition activities to the project schedule and needsGather requirements and prepare Requirements Allocation Documents. Provide requirement support and ensure requirements traceabilityIdentify gaps and coordinate across teams to mitigate gapsWork with stakeholders to identify and track risks and actionsLead and conduct lifecycle reviews; prepare presentations and other necessary artifacts for the reviewEnsure that the established quality assurance standards and procedures are followed during the development and packagingSupport program's software development effort using Agile methodology QualificationsESSENTIAL SKILLS 2+ years of experience developing/integrating software for scientific applications (preferably Fortran/C/C++ in a Linux environment) to estimate the algorithm complexity and level of efforts needed in transitionExcellent teamwork, strong inter-personal skills and attention to detail are requiredAbility to work with teams from a variety of work settings within a large organization such as NOAAAbility to communicate complex problems clearlyAbility to quickly learn new skillsets and obtain scientific knowledge in remote sensing.Green Card or US Citizenship is requiredDESIRED SKILLS Familiarity with scientific data formatsBasic scripting language skills to check adherence to delivery standards; Python preferred.Experience with Software Configuration Management toolsExperience with Agile life cycle process.Basic understanding of DevOps methodology and continuous integration & continuous delivery (CI/CD) concepts and practicesExperience with Visio and JiraEXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONBachelor's or higher degree with formal course work in Physics/ Atmospheric science/ Satellite Meteorology/ Remote sensing2+ years' experience in software development Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder to qualify (US Citizen must live in US for 3-5 years prior to application) (please indicate in your cover letter).
