This is a Junior System Engineer position assigned to the REACH Program - the U.S. Department of State's (DoS) crisis response communications office. - Travel 0-10%, depending on world events.

Description of Duties:

Design and maintain lab network imaging server to include PXE boot and SCCM

Design and modify windows images to include system drivers, updated software and patches

Troubleshoots system images and makes improvements when necessary

Provides technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations

Compiles records and reports concerning systems operations and maintenance.

Manages the testing, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/MAN/WAN systems

Knowledge of virtualized server environments (VMware ESXi, vSphere, etc)

Knowledge of Microsoft Server 2012/2016 system administration

Current SAN/NAS experience

Experience in scripting in Powershell and/or PowerCLI

Performs system-level design and configuration of products including determination of hardware, OS, and other platform specifications

Plans large-scale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies

Provides quality assurance review and the evaluation of new and existing software products

Provides assistance and oversight for all information systems operations activities, including computer and telecommunications/communications operations, data entry, data control, LAN/MAN/WAN administration and operations support, operating systems programming and/or system security policy procedures

Participate in design reviews, program reviews and technical interchange meetings

Provides input to policy level discussions regarding standards and technical viability of intended systems requirements

May require worldwide availability and periodic overseas travel in support of installations

Job will require heavy lifting at times

Administrative tasks as assigned

Required Education & Experience

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; Additional experience in -Information Systems and Technology Management may be accepted in lieu of degree.

3+ years experiencing providing technical installation support in a government and/or large commercial environment

Excellent communications skills (oral and written) and well versed with Microsoft Office software

Candidate will work closely with company, contractor personnel, and Government personnel to conduct operational activities and must work well in a team environment

Technically capable, fast learner, quality minded, adaptable, self-motivated, and able to work independent of supervision

Detail-minded with an extraordinary work ethic

Required Clearance

Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Desired Experience & Skills

Experience with COMSEC inline network encryptors (e.g. KG-175 family)

Knowledge pertaining to Network Administration - Ethernet switching, TCP/IP subnetting & routing (static & dynamic), DHCP, DNS, Cisco network equipment

Formal industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and/or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP - various) are desired

Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance

Performs a variety of systems engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems design integration and implementation, including personnel, hardware, software, budgetary, and support facilities and/or equipment
