Job SummaryPerforms diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations according to established imaging protocols. Provides efficient and effective patient care in the production of high-quality diagnostic MRI examinations. Provides a high level of customer service, performing in a manner consistent with Hospital organization values.Minimum QualificationsEducation/ExperienceAssociate's degree or one to three years, with formal training in an American Medical Association accredited school of Radiologic Technology/Magnetic Resonance Imaging.Approximately four to six months of job-related experience and/or successful completion of a formal MRI educational training program.Approximately three months to one year to gain familiarity with the Hospital environment, department routines and procedures, and the full range of job dutiesLicense/Certification/RegistrationSuccessful Completion of either the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) MRI examination or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) examination within one year of date of hire for unregistered Technologist.Basic Cardiac Life Support certification also required prior to hire.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesPROBLEM SOLVING: Job requires a relatively high level of problem-solving to find solutions to difficult human, technical, clinical or administrative problems.INTERNAL CONTACTS: Internal contacts necessary to effectively exchange routine information with others inside the Hospital.INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT: Work generally has standard procedures and instructions but frequently requires deviation from established methods to achieve results.PATIENT CARE: Assists with patient care by performing invasive procedures, and/or developing therapeutic programs.RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS: Not responsible for supervising others.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesConducts patient interviews to identify contraindicated implants, foreign bodies and other medical conditions on concern. Identifies and performs appropriate examination based on patient history.Verifies prescription and protocol. Uses appropriate imaging parameters. Injects contrast based on patient weight after verifying the patient's renal function status. Verifies image quality prior to ending the examination.Appropriately documents examination. Verifies the examinations is correct in both Cerner, PACS, PenRad and DynaCAD (when applicable).Assists in organizing and maintaining inventory of supplies. Ensures the work area is maintained at a high state of cleanliness.Promptly prepares film and CDs upon request.Assists with protocol development and implementation.Assists with the training of new personnel and Radiology School students regarding procedures, imaging protocols and department policy.Collects quality control data for manager, such as film usage, equipment problems, etc.Completes all required information system functions to assure proper patient information, billing, examination and other necessary functions.Performs other duties essential for normal operations as assigned.
