The Imaging Modality Supervisor participates in and facilitates the supervision of the operational, personnel and financial activities of the department Duties Coordinates the technical and patient care activities for the modality under the direct supervision of the modality Operations Director.# Participates in and evaluates all technical functions pertaining to the operation of the section.# Assists modality Operations Director with coaching and evaluating associates. Facilitates education of department staff by participating in orientation, identifying educational needs and delivery of education opportunities. Qualifications Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine or Ultrasound. Bachelor of Science in Radiology, Business, or Heath Care Sciences is preferred. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) , Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (CNMT),or Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography# (RDMS). Advanced Certification in modality of supervision ( i.e. Vascular Interventional (VI), Cardiac Interventional (CI), Mammography (M), #Nuclear Medicine (N),# Magnetic Resonance (MR), Sonography #(S), Computer Tomography (CT), Quality Management (QM), Bone Density (BD), # Six years experience inclusive of: minimum of three years of directly related experience in diagnostic radiology with the balance in another radiology modality. One year supervisory experience desirable. BLS#Certification. IV #and/or PICC certification

  • Job Summary
  • The incumbent in this position is modality supervisor that participates in and facilitates the supervision of the operational, personnel and financial activities of the department section. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVEN TO AN APPROPRIATE COMBINATION OF EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE.

  • Education/Training
  • Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine or Ultrasound. Bachelor of Science in Radiology, Business, or Heath Care Sciences is preferred.

  • Experience
  • Six years experience inclusive of: minimum of three years current directly related experience in diagnostic radiology with the balance in another radiology modality, plus one year supervisory experience desirable.

  • License/Certification/Registration
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) , Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (CNMT),or Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS).

  • Advanced Certification in modality of supervision ( i.e. Vascular Interventional (VI), Cardiac Interventional (CI), Mammography (M), Nuclear Medicine (N), Magnetic Resonance (MR), Sonography (S), Computer Tomography (CT), Quality Management (QM), Bone Density (BD),

  • CPR Certification.

  • IV and/or PICC certification, dependent on area of supervision.

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards for radiation safety and/ or to meet federal and professional requirements to maintain certification; maintenance of QC activities related to the modality accreditation; working knowledge with quality assurance and performance improvement; effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to interact with all levels of staff, set priorities and maintain a calm disposition; computer literacy with radiology information systems and common business applications.

  • Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the technical and patient care activities for the modality under the direct supervision of the modality Operations Director.

  • Participates in and evaluates all technical functions pertaining to the operation of the section.

  • Oversees, assign duties as appropriate, and assists in monitoring of activities to ensure that all professional and regulatory standards are met. Participates in the performance improvement patient satisfaction and quality assurance activities of the department.

  • Assists modality Operations Director with human resource management functions; including, scheduling, coaching and evaluating associates of the section.

  • Facilitates education of department staff by participating in orientation of employees, identifying educational needs and delivery of education opportunities in coordination with modality Operations Director.

  • Ensures adequate inventory of supplies is maintained for efficient delivery of care and is within budgetary guidelines. Coordinates inventory requirements (par levels), and provides supervision of the inventory cycle counting, re-stocking, competing order forms.

  • Assists modality Operations Director for new product evaluation, procurement and establishing par levels and new product training.

  • Participates in monitoring and controlling of assigned operational budgets by appropriately managing inventory and labor usage. Assists with accounting and reporting of inventory surplus, product returns, and damages.

  • Responsible for the assistance and monitoring of compliance for the technical work flow of Radiology Information System (RIS), Enterprise Radiology Solutions (ERS) and Enterprise Electronic Record.(EMR).

  • Exemplifies SPIRIT values, actively participates in Patient Safety standards and tasks. Holds departmental staff accountable for conformity with the standards in all activity.
