Job Description:
MLAW Programs invites applications for a faculty position at the
rank of Senior Lecturer beginning Fall 2021. This full-time,
professional-track faculty positions offer competitive salary and
generous benefits. Appointment is renewable annually, subject to
satisfactory annual reviews. Applications from all disciplines
related to the law are welcome. Primary responsibilities include
curriculum development (in partnership with other university
faculty) and teaching three MLAW courses per semester (on average).
Additional responsibilities include informal mentoring of MLAW
students and coordinating curricular and co-curricular programming.
MLaw Programs is part of Maryland's MPowering the State strategic
partnership to create research and educational collaborations
between University of Maryland College Park and University of
Maryland, Baltimore. There are two programs that fall within MLAW:
the Justice and Legal Thought College Park Scholars Living-Learning
Program and the Law and Society Minor. More information is
available at http://mlaw.umd.edu. MLAW's Justice and Legal Thought
(CPJT) Program is one of twelve invitation-only living-learning
programs in the College Park Scholars Program for academically
talented, first and second-year students enrolled in any major at
UMCP. In fall 2019, MLAW will enroll its sixth first-year cohort of
approximately 75 students. The students in CPJT will be adjusting
to the University, building a program-based community, and
exploring the relationship between justice and law in the real
world through a series of common courses and extracurricular
opportunities. MLAW's Law and Society Minor is an academic minor in
the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSOS) for upper
level students enrolled in any major at UMCP. In fall 2021, MLAW
will enroll its 8th cohort of 75 new first-year students in the
two-year minor. The students in L&S will be exploring the
relationship between law and society through a series of required
and elective courses and an internship.
