Principal, Transit Buildings Washington , District Of Columbia Our Transit Buildings group is currently made up of teams spread across North America, including Washington DC, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Denver and Minneapolis. The group provides services for all phases of a project's life cycle, from programming and planning to detailed design, construction, and operation. In addition to innovative thought leadership, our team delivers cutting edge rail, bus and public works maintenance and operations facilities, above and below grade station design, and TOD projects across our global platform. A Principal for Transit Buildings is responsible for leading and implementing the strategic business plan to grow the market sector across the US Northeast region. focusing on major cities along the Northeast Corridor, namely New York, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. The position requires the ability to build and nurture existing Stantec client relationships as well as acquire new client relationships in this market sector. This individual will work closely with the local and regional leaders along with the national sector leadership to implement a full strategic plan. This role is responsible for Business Development and Service Delivery, and acts as the Project Executive when necessary. Your Key Responsibilities Account Management, including client engagement, authoring, and implementing annual account plans, overseeing key team members and project execution to ensure high levels of client satisfaction. Responsible for identifying and leading project pursuits activities, develop proposals, interviews and presentation material in coordination with marketing team members. Directs contract negotiations with clients and consultants, review and approve fee proposals. Serves as the Principal in Charge or Project Manager (when appropriate) and may oversee other PMs, holding them accountable, and providing timely feedback Lead/attend project kick-off workshops to ensure workplans are in place to allocate proper resourcing, quality execution and financial targets are met. Responsible for the overall execution and delivery of projects Responsible for financial performance of projects including adherences to workplan and revenue targets, identifying and negotiating scope changes and A/R collections. Provides workload forecasts to identify resource needs, securing key staff and, providing mentorship to create "Bench Depth" Works collaboratively with regional and office leadership to achieve effective staffing which supports the needs of clients and projects as well as appropriately balances the firm's resources. Leads the recruitment of new Transit Buildings staff and contributes to performance reviews of existing staff. Acts as an internal and external ambassador for the firm. Engage with Civic sector leadership across Stantec to optimize market position and effectively managed resources. Identify opportunities for Industry and Community Outreach. Partner with the Marketing team to develop regional campaign around the Transit Buildings sector for Stantec brand recognition through presentation/speaking opportunities, papers, public relations, awards, etc. Contribute to and support Stantec client satisfaction/survey program. Monitor and advise on market trends across the Northeast region. Solicit and facilitate sharing of industry knowledge. Your Capabilities and Credentials Demonstrated leadership skills on major projects. Strong business development skills, including significant experience developing new clients and maintaining client relationships (specific experience within a consulting organization in the East is considered a strong asset). Exceptional communication, and team-building skills. An entrepreneurial orientation with strong understanding of the business development challenges of a consulting-services provider. Familiarity with industry trends and industry leaders in the East. Education and Experience Degree in Architecture or Planning with professional architecture or planning registration/license. 10 years of experience in Public and Transit Buildings design working with multidiscipline teams on a wide variety of projects, preferably including stations.
