The Defense Travel Administrator (DTA) serves as the Subject Matter
Expert (SME) and authority for the Defense Threat Reduction Agencys
(DTRA)s Defense Travel System (DTS) program and related travel
policy. The DTA administers the Agency DTS program by performing
the following duties, which are not limited:
As The Defense Travel Administrator you will:
--- Complete DoD mandated training required to perform as the
--- File / upload appointment memo and mandated training to the
--- Create or modify DTRA DTS program and related travel
--- Ensure DTS user requiring a role in DTS are properly appointed
(and terminated) using the DD Form 577, and retaining electronic
copies of appointment memos and required training certificates on
--- Ensure AO/CO appointments are sent to Defense Finance and
Accounting Service (DFAS) IAW DoD Financial Management Regulation
(FMR) 7000.14-R, Vol. 5, Chapter 5.
--- Conduct Organizational Defense Travel Administrator (ODTA),
Financial Defense Travel Administrator (FDTA), AO, Non-DTS Entry
Agent (NDEA), Self-Authorizing Official (SAO), Routing (Reviewing)
Official (RO), DMM, and traveler training on an annual basis as
initial or refresher training.
--- Direct action for all DTRA DTS users.
--- Retrieve, reconcile, and file mandatory reports, and reports
run in support of DTRAs DTS program.
--- Develop training modules, and administer training.
--- Audit DTS files and documents.
--- Assign, manage, and monitor DTS user permission levels.
--- Ensure appropriate separation of duties.
--- Establish a Tier II Help Desk to provide advanced
troubleshooting, document, travel, and profile assistance. Update
Tier II Help Desk contact information with Agency, DTMO, and other
external sources as needed.
--- Assist DTS users, lower level ODTAs, and AOs in understanding
and clarifying entitlements and policy.
--- Process overdue vouchers by applying the T-Entered stamp.
--- Must be a U.S. Citizen with an Active Secret or higher Security
--- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%.
--- Must have 1-3 years of travel experience.
--- Requires at least 1 years of experience working with the
Defense Travel System (DTS).
