Job Description:
The Performance Test Engineer serves as a Subject Matter Expert
and performs analysis of systems and requirements. Analyze
application performance with relevant tools. The Test Engineer also
directs or assists in the design of test plans in support of user
requirements for moderately complex to extremely complex IT
systems. The Tester will perform activities such as determining
what performance testing strategy to implement; writing technical
test plans, test case scenarios, identifying what and how loads and
metrics to be collected; ability to identify which protocol is best
to use for building scripts and connecting to test environment
interfaces; conducting various types of tests and collecting
necessary metrics; writing test analysis documents highlighting key
findings and recommendations; perform code reviews. Analyze the
problem and the information to be processed. Define the problem,
develops system requirements and program specifications, plan and
monitor the optimization of system operation and resource
utilization and perform performance engineering and systems
capacity analysis and planning. The Performance Test Engineer MUST
have the following: • Prior experience setting up JMeter test
harness and scripts. • Possesses and applies Performance testing
expertise on multiple complex work assignments which are broad in
nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to
accomplish tasks. • Ability to apply comprehensive knowledge across
key tasks and high impact assignments. • Ability to plan and lead
major technology assignments. • Ability to evaluate performance
results and recommend major changes affecting short-term project
growth and success. • Functions as a technical expert across
multiple project assignments. • Some coding/scripting experience. •
Some tool integration experience. • Ability to convey technical
information to non-technical individuals. • Highly self-motivated
and accountable for tasks assigned. • Ability to work on their own
without supervision/guidance. • Great written and strong
communication skills. • Strong analytical and problem-solving
skills. • Experience creating test plans, test scripts, test cases,
and test documentation. Key Tasks and Responsibilities • Evaluate
non-functional requirement documents and identifies performance
test needs. • Write test plans, test cases and record/track
defects. • Develop and maintain a Performance Test Plan/Strategy
document defining: test objectives, types of tests needed, workload
matrix, and test scenarios. • Develop test scripts and load
projections. • Collect performance metrics and perform load,
stress, and duration/endurance tests. • Analyze performance test
results and identify bottlenecks within the system. • Work with
respective teams to plan/define SLAs and ensure they are met. •
Identify root cause using diagnostics tools. • Suggest improvements
and configuration changes that improve the performance of the
system. • Review target mappings, resiliency requirements,
thresholds, throughputs, environment specifications and
architecture, capacity/load management and other related
documentation. • Support Agile and Kanban system development
efforts including, technical design, and testing. Required
Education & Experience • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of related
experience The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate
working knowledge with several of the following concepts or
technologies: • Apache JMeter • API Testing - SOAP and REST • UI
Testing • Scripting/Languages: Java, XML/JSON, Ruby, Python •
Monitoring & Analysis skills/tools: Splunk, AppDynamics, NetApp,
AWS CloudWatch/CoudTrail, • XRAY Test Management • Collaboration
tools such as JIRA & Confluence • SQL Query skills • Large test
data preparation • Test results capture and communication •
Biometrics knowledge • Agile Environment/Methodologies • SDLC/SELC
Certification Requirements • Relevant certifications desired
Clearance Requirements • Candidate must be a US Citizen, possess
DHS Suitability background investigation or be eligible to qualify
for DHS Entry of Duty background investigation followed by DHS
Public Trust Clearance. Other (Travel, Work Environment, DoD 8570
Requirements, Administrative Notes, etc.) • None at this time
