The PHP/Perl Developer will assist in the design, development and maintenance of a several in-house business applications and websites relating to network configuration, monitoring, and operations in support multiple teams and departments. Under the guidance of the technical lead, the developer will work with application stakeholders to gather requirements, produce proofs-of-concept, obtain feedback, and complete the development, testing and implementation of the applications and new enhancements. This position requires a full understanding of SDLC as well as the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with project leads in IP Engineering and other departments to gather, document, and prioritize requirements, and set end-user expectations.
  
• Produce mockups and prototypes as needed to define deliverables.
  
• Collaborate with other developers to design and develop software solutions within reasonable timeframes.
  
• Provide test plans and/or test guidelines, and coordinate testing with project leads.
  
• Assist system administrators with product deployments.
  
• Proactively analyze technology/capability gaps and performance, and suggest improvements.
  
• Support existing production applications by providing enhancements and bug fixes.
  
• Integrate applications with internal and external APIs and develop new APIs.
  
  Qualifications:
  
  
  • 
    
  • 3+ years PHP development experience
    
  • 2+ years Perl development experience
    
  • 2+ years full-time experience with MySQL or MariaDB.
    
  • 2+ years web development experience.
    
  • Experience in all phases of SDLC, OO analysis and design, and revision control systems.
    
  • Familiarity with Linux, especially RedHat, Fedora, or CentOS.
    
  • Ability to converse with end-users, gather requirements, and provide feedback in plain non-technical English.
    
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation.
    
  • At least 2 years of Computer Science college education.
    
    Nice to Have
    
    
    • 
      
    • Knowledge of networking and the telecommunications industry. If you can configure a Cisco ASR router, go to the head of the line.
      
    • Proficient with HTML/CSS/Javascript.
      
    • Familiarity with the PHP Laravel framework.
      
    • Some familiarity with Java or C++ is highly desirable.
      
    • BS in Computer Science.
