Want in?Yahoo is seeking a Technical Director, Business Strategy and Operations, reporting directly to the Head of Platforms Engineering. The ideal candidate will be prepared to join an exceptional, fast-paced team dedicated to providing high scale & high quality infrastructure platforms and engineering experiences to Yahoo product engineering, AI/ML and research teams with a mission to make Yahoo the company engineers love to grow and succeed with. In addition to running one of the worlds largest platforms organizations, the team is also driving the multi year Yahoo wide digital transformation program.This is a challenging, high-impact role that offers the opportunity to work with, learn from, and influence senior leadership across Yahoo and its brands. Ideal candidates will have prior experience with business operations, Portfolio Management, executive-level engagement and demonstrated successes in past initiatives by leading multiple programs and/or portfolios.ResponsibilitiesBusiness & Portfolio ManagementDrive quarterly Objectives and key results (OKR) generation and prioritization while collaborating with the leadership team and partners to meet milestones set by the CTO Office. -Manage the internal and external operations of the VP's office, overseeing projects ranging from strategic planning and operational process design; to organizational design and implementation; to Board-level projects and presentationsWork closely with all business units and functions to align operations with strategy. Effect results by maneuvering through appropriate formal and informal organization channels. Influence executives in the organization.Support Business Operations Reviews as needed for the Platforms Engineering teamPortfolio management for projects within Platforms Engineering - ensuring teams within Platform Engineering adhere to the appropriate governance functions in accordance with guidelines, policies and practices including but not limited to: resource planning, status reporting, change control, risk and issue management, demand and project life cycle deliverables, financial management, project planning, time tracking, etc.Liaise with the Transformation Office on demands/project intake, processes and procedures through project completionDevelop and maintain overall Platforms engineering multi-year Portfolio roadmap based on individual team roadmaps and Transformation Office roadmap.Financial & Resource ManagementLead budget planning and forecasting, hiring strategy, and resource management in alignment with CTO org budget in collaboration with Finance and HR.Manage the team's OPEX and CAPEX budget, headcount and spend in partnership with Platforms head and finance to ensure effective budget management. -Lead the Platform Engineering Annual capital and expense portfolio budget process in partnership with Finance and CTO Operations---Executive Communications & PresentationsCTO-level communications on Departments wins/progress/statusCoordinate CTO level engagement for decision making and prioritization as neededOwn the overall organizational stakeholder and engagement communication plan for the Platforms Engineering department. ----Culture & Process ImprovementLiaise with other Chiefs of Staff on any frameworks, processes, procedures, tools, etc. that are being developed or improved -Own the overall creation, implementation and on-going maintenance process of internal standard operating procedures and documentation that drive efficiency and efficacyDrives and ensures a positive Onboarding, and ongoing training program for the organization.Resolve any internal process and procedure related conflicts and escalate when neededStay current on the latest methodologies, tools, processes, frameworks, etc. in industry related to Portfolio Management through research, training, networking, attending conferences or eventsProvide recommendations based on industry best practice, experience and stakeholder feedback for new or improved processes, reviews, reporting, etc. to support long-term growth and maturity of the portfolioRequired Skills7-10+ years of direct work in a program/portfolio management with a successful project management track record in full life cycle technology implementation projects, with proven record of execution to time and budget.Ability to work under shifting priorities and deadlines and willing to provide a wide range of supportExperience leading cross-functional and global teamsExcellent people leadership, management and motivational skills -Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills at all levels (executives, project team members, etc.)Curiosity and drive to succeed and a willingness to learn and lead by doingA team player who integrates well within the team as well as external stakeholders, but also has the ability to work independentlySelf-starter requiring minimal oversight and direction to execute independent tasks------Excellent fundamental skills: scheduling, meeting minutes, planning, organizing, attention to detail, managing competing prioritiesExcellent fundamental portfolio/project management skills including facilitation, analytical and systems thinkingAbility to influence, lead, and manage a team of diverse internal stakeholders, without direct authority and over duration of complex long-term projectsCapable of building and maintaining good working relationships with stakeholders throughout the companyWorking knowledge of the following areas: Project Management Office, Corporate Strategy, Business Development, Finance, Project Management, Change ManagementYahoo is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
