Job Description:

We are looking for a strong Java developer to work in a growing data science team creating applications and services to provide a 360 degree view of customers. As part of this team you will be designing, populating and consuming customer data stores in our data lake and exposing that data through web services. As a senior developer you will have the opportunity to mentor more junior associates and help grow our team. You will be working with technologies such as Spring Boot, Kafka, Cassandra, Datastax Graph Database, Spark/Scala, and Kubernetes. This is a potentially long-term contract opportunity: at least one year. Our client is also known for its willingness and ability to retain contracted talent for many years. ENVIRONMENT We take the software engineering craft to heart: unit testing, peer reviews, formal coding guidelines with the latest code quality tooling, continuous integration/deployment and a supportive, delivery-focused atmosphere are just some of the characteristics of our work environment. Working hours are typically limited to 40/week. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• MUST HAVE 12+ years of experience working in a Java enterprise environment
• MUST HAVE experience working on high volume systems
• MUST HAVE at least 5 years of experience working with Spring, Spring Boot, and Web Services
• MUST HAVE experience with Cassandra, HBase, Bigtable, or DynamoDB HIGHLY DESIRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience with a graph database such as DataStax
  • Experience with the GraphQL API
  • Experience with Kafka or other similar large-scale messaging technologies
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with Spark and Scala
  • Experience configuring and using Gradle and/or Maven
  • Experience with Git
  • Knowledge and understanding of SDLC and Agile/Scrum procedures, CI/CD and Automation If your resume is selected, expect an email with instructions and a link to an online coding challenge. The challenge typically takes 1-2 hours, and is a required step in the process. The interview itself is pretty straightforward: no puzzles, no red-black trees, no on-the-spot programming assignments and no detailed API questions. A minimal amount of coding (usually no more than about five lines per question) will be requested. We will focus on conceptual understanding of software building blocks and practices, familiarity with the daily tools of your trade -- programming languages, frameworks, development tools --, and on your fitting in a team culture that prizes the ability to steadily deliver components for a large codebase meant to remain maintainable for ten years or longer. A successful phone or video screening interview will be followed by a single in-person interview with our client (if local, video otherwise.) WHO ARE WE?
