GDIT has an opportunity for a ServiceNow Developer to join us in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs ITSM (VA ITSM) support program. This ServiceNow Developer will focus on support of the VAs instance of ServiceNow and each stakeholder that uses this system. Daily activities will include the management and configuration of ServiceNow applications and modules, product development, and some system administration tasks. The ideal candidate will possess a proficiency in ServiceNow development with a strong understanding of how and when to apply platform-specific best practices. This is part of a large initiative for the VA where GDIT has the primary responsibility of supporting the centralized IT Services, Management and CMDB efforts across the enterprise using Agile, SAFeand ITIL best practices.You will also regularly engage with ServiceNow administrators and developers at other VA organizations to ensure proper and continual handoff between systems, or to support global challenges that require coordination. Development of VAs ServiceNow instance, including all sub-modules, is a major part of this role, and subsequent maintenance and adjustments to the product are expected. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Configures and develops on the VAs instance of ServiceNow including routine changes or configuration adjustments as directed by the customerParticipates and manages development efforts pertaining to modules of the ServiceNow platform using JavaScript, including support for newly developed modules or major releasesParticipates in the configuration of new applications or suites during planning, development, and rollout phasesParticipates in Continual Service Improvement activities, as required by customer demandsParticipates in the collection and implementation of tool requirements and investigates as necessary to determine the best solution or configuration options available based on the specific requirementParticipates in Agile and SAFeceremonies and produces deliverables associated with the goals to deliver valueCollaborates with other teammates in support of platform consistency and upgradabilityProvides tool or process solutioning recommendations to customer, as neededAssists with report configuration and maintenance, as neededPerforms operational administrative tasks, as neededPlans and manages meetings to solicit feedback from stakeholders, as needed Qualifications Bachelors degree and6+ years of relevant IT experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)Minimum of one year hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and administering one or more ServiceNow instances is requiredProficiency with technical ServiceNow components such as: business rules, client scripts, UI policies and actions, UI pages and macros, script includes, catalog items, workflows, web services, reports, etc.Proficiency with HTML and JavaScriptExperience working with customers to understand requirements and implementing information technology solutions / initiativesExperience developing test scripts and plansExperience with creating and managing technical documentation Competencies Strong written and oral communications requiredStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsHighly effective teamwork and collaboration skillsMust be able to work independently on a project, seeing it from inception to completionMust possess strong organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills to effectively relate to agency and customer needs Desired Skills Certifications preferred - Certified System Administrator, Certified Application Developer, Certified Implementation Specialist (ITSM + others), Certified Application Specialist (Performance Analytics)Experience with one or more of the following is a plus: Service Portal, Agent Workspace, Automated Test Framework, Performance Analytics, CMDB, Discovery, Change, Event Management, Custom/Scoped Application Development, platform upgradesStrong technical understanding of system integration principles and web services standardsAbility to communicate technical concepts in a non-technical, logical mannerFamiliarity with SolarWinds or a comparable monitoring tool is a plusFamiliarity with LAN rev or a comparable lifecycle management platform is a plusITIL certifications are a plusExperience working on an Agile team*CANDIDATE MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN A PUBLIC TRUST CLEARANCE*Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Travel Required: T elecommuting Options: Some Telecommuting AllowedWork Location: USA MD BethesdaAdditional Work Locations: USA MD RockvilleWe are GDIT.
