Job Description:

Our client has created a new role in which they are in need of a Physician (or RN who meets the requirements listed)to be working as the Assistant Vice President of a Behavioral Health Service Line. The Nursing Executive for the Behavioral Health Service Line has a dual reporting relationship to the Physician Executive for the Behavioral Health Service Line and to the Chief Nursing Officer.

To be considered you should meet the following requirements:

  • Licensed or qualified for licensure to practice in the State of Virginia
  • Hold Board Certification in a specialty of Behavioral Health.
  • Distinction within the medical community and be known within his/her specialty for clinical excellence.
  • 4-7 years Extensive clinical and administrative experience working as a Director in the Behavioral Health Service Line, including direct involvement in managing a clinical Service Line and demonstrated medical staff leadership, including:

    Management style that emphasizes communication, collegiality, collaboration, flexibility and the ability to build high-performing multidisciplinary teams

    Commitment to continuously improving clinical effectiveness, including quality, safety and patient experience

    Business acumen, management skills, and fiscal knowledge

    Ability to build relationships both inside and outside the organization

    Experience as a community physician, or extensive dealings with community physicians, and an understanding of the issues related to private practices

    Ability to mentor, develop, inspire and lead medical and support staff, establishing a culture of accountability and teamwork among a diverse, highly qualified medical and support staff

    Ability to plan and delegate assignments, review work, and monitor progress toward goals

    Our client is offering a generous 6 figure salary + 20% incentive + 10K discretionary funds + 5% 401K + 5% Executive Retirement + relocation incentive.

    • You are eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage after 30 days
    • You are 100 percent vested in matching contributions after 3 years. Our client matches 100 percent of the first 5 percent you elect to contribute. A Roth 401(k) feature is also available

      Daily DOING of the role involve:

      • Collaborate with the Physician Executive and Nursing Executive to develop and implement the overall Service Line strategy and annual priorities and targets (growth, quality, safety, experience, cost) per the System approach for same
      • Monitor and develop action plans for nursing metrics on the Key Results/Performance Scorecard for the Service Line
      • Manage nursing operations system-wide for the Behavioral Health Service Line
      • Oversee nursing units and staff at assigned Service Line care delivery sites, including the inpatient units and outpatient Psychiatry clinics
      • Develop and implement Service Line nursing policies and procedures, per system standard/policy
      • Partner with the Physician Executive and Administrative Executive to design, implement and maintain all Service Line care redesign (quality, safety, patient experience, etc.) standards and plans
      • Develop clinical practice standards and metrics for the nursing staff, per system standard/policy
      • Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer on regulatory activities (e.g., JCAHO) and industry designation activities (e.g., ANCC Magnet Recognition Program)
      • Establish and facilitate system-wide standardized staffing expectations for nursing professionals within the Service Line across the continuum of care and in conjunction with care delivery site and System nursing leaders
      • Develop and oversee management systems for all nursing staff (RNs, APRNs, LPNs, etc.) assigned to the Service Line, per system standard/policy. This involves the following:

        • Care delivery site nursing leadership
        • Nursing leadership for other Service Lines
        • Recruit, develop and retain nurses
        • On-board nurses
        • Participate in setting compensation for nursing staff
        • Approve schedules for nursing staff
        • Develop Service Line training and education for nursing staff
        • Manage nursing staff performance

          • Lead personnel reporting to the Nursing Executive of the Behavioral Health Service Line
          • Collaborate with the Physician Executive and Administrative Executive to develop and maintain the Service Line as a clinical practice "home" for all team members
