Job Details - Location: Washington, DC 20007 – Georgetown neighborhood (Washington DC nursing jobs, Georgetown nursing jobs) - Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,680 - $1,770 per week - Assignment Type: Travel Contract (travel nurse role) - Unit: Main 6 Ortho / Med-Surg / Telemetry (orthopedic unit, telemetry) - Start Date: April 13, 2026 - End Date: July 13, 2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - Shifts: 3 x 12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:30) - Hours per Week: 36 - Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (50% weekends required) - Call Requirement: Yes, in rotation with unit staff - Float Requirement: Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity - Patient Ratio: 1:5–6 - Charting / EMR: Cerner EMR - Orientation: 48 hours Job Requirements / Qualifications - Registered Nurse (RN) with active DC RN license (pending accepted with proof at submission; license must be in hand prior to start) - Minimum 1.5 years recent acute care nursing experience (1.5–2 years travel experience preferred) - Unit accepts first-time travelers (minimum 4 years nursing experience required if first-time traveler) - Current BLS from AHA (American Heart Association) - BSN preferred - Experience caring for orthopedic surgical patients strongly preferred (total joint replacements, spine surgery, postop care) - Telemetry experience and comfort with monitoring cardiac rhythms preferred - Willingness to float to similar or lower acuity units and participate in call rotation - Excellent teamwork, communication, and patient education skills Key Responsibilities - Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries and complex medical diagnoses (postoperative orthopedic care) - Monitor, assess, and document patient status and progress using Cerner EMR - Administer medications, manage IV therapy, and perform safe blood product administration - Manage pain control including PCA pumps, epidural and perineural PCA pumps, and titration of high-risk drips (e.g., heparin) per protocol - Perform telemetry monitoring and early recognition of clinical changes in post-op orthopedic patients - Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care (care coordination with physicians, NPs, PAs, case managers) - Adhere to isolation precautions, infection control policies, and hospital safety protocols - Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed to support patient care - Provide thorough patient and family education on post-surgical recovery, discharge planning, and home care instructions Apply now to join our travel nursing team in Washington, DC.
