Potomac Urology Surgery Center services a wide variety of patients
from all over the DMV area seeking state-of-the- art care in
urology with a personal touch to improve their outcomes. The
Position We are looking for a passionate, engaged, Ambulatory
Surgery Center (ASC) Registered Nurse (RN) who is interested in a
growing Urology ASC. As an ASC RN you will work as part of a
healthcare team under the supervision of urologists and Surgery
Center Manager. You will play a crucial role in the pre-operative,
intra-operative and post-operative care of our patients, ensuring
their safety, comfort, and recovery after surgery. You will work
closely with our team of healthcare professionals to provide
high-quality care in our state-of-the-art Urology ASC. As an ASC
RN, you will be an integral part of our surgical team, providing
exceptional nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient

comfortable and efficient environment. Responsibilities Perform
comprehensive assessments of patients recovering from anesthesia,
including vital signs, pain level, consciousness, and surgical site
evaluation. Monitor patients closely for any signs of complications
or changes in their condition, such as respiratory distress,
bleeding, or arrhythmias. Administer medications, including pain
management drugs and anti-nausea medications, as prescribed and
based on patient needs. Continuously monitor and document patients'
vital signs, oxygenation levels, and EKG readings. Pre-operative
Assessment: Perform thorough pre-operative assessments of patients,
including reviewing medical histories, conducting physical
examinations, and ensuring necessary tests and preparations are
completed. Intra-operative Support: Assist the surgical team during
procedures, ensuring proper positioning of the patient, preparing
and sterilizing equipment, and maintaining a sterile environment.
Provide support to the anesthesiologist and surgeon as needed.
Post-operative Care: Monitor patients in the post-anesthesia care
unit (PACU) following surgery, assessing vital signs, pain levels,
and overall recovery. Administer medications, including pain
management drugs and post-operative antibiotics, as prescribed.
Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about the
surgical process, pre-operative instructions, and post-operative
care. Address any questions or concerns they may have.Discharge
Planning: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to determine
patients' readiness for discharge. Provide appropriate instructions
for post-operative care, including wound care, medication
management, and follow-up appointments. Documentation: Accurately
document all aspects of patient care, including assessments,
medications administered, interventions, and patient responses.
Maintain detailed records according to facility policies and
regulatory guidelines. Infection Control: Adhere to strict
infection control protocols, including proper handling and disposal
of equipment and supplies, to ensure a safe and clean environment
for patients and staff. Collaborate with surgeons,
anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure
coordinated and effective patient care. Quality Improvement:
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including data
collection, audits, and implementing evidence-based practices to
enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction. Professional
Development: Stay updated with current nursing practices,
guidelines, and advancements in ambulatory surgery care through
continuing education and professional development opportunities. Be
prepared to respond promptly and effectively to emergencies,
providing advanced life support measures when necessary. Stay
updated with current nursing practices, guidelines, and
advancements in post-anesthesia care through ongoing professional
development. Requirements Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in
Maryland. Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in an ambulatory
surgery center or similar outpatient surgical setting. BLS (Basic
Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
certifications. Strong knowledge of ambulatory surgery procedures
and/or Urology procedures, patient care in a fast-paced
environment, and perioperative nursing principles. Excellent
assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills. Ability to
work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to
changing priorities. Strong organizational skills and attention to
detail. Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR)
