Registered Nurse - Med Surg – UHC Staffing Registered Nurse - Med Surg Location: Richmond, VA Start Date: 03-02-2026 End Date: 06-01-2026 Contract Type: Travel Contract Shift Type: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (12-hour nights). Specific days scheduled by the facility; 13-week travel assignment. Roles & Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care on a medical-surgical and stroke/neuro-designated unit Monitor and respond to telemetry changes to keep patients safe and stable Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately Document patient care and chart in Meditech with clarity and timeliness Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care Provide patient and family education, especially around stroke/neuro conditions and recovery Adhere to unit standards and patient ratios (typical 5:1) to maintain safe staffing Support unit quality and safety initiatives (infection prevention, CAUTI reduction, stroke protocols) Qualifications Active Registered Nurse licensure appropriate for practice in Virginia Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (Med-Surg/Telemetry preferred) BLS required ACLS preferred NIH Stroke certification preferred Experience with telemetry monitoring and stroke/neuro patient care Familiarity with Meditech or similar EMR systems Comfort and reliability working night shifts Knowledge & Skills Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for medical-surgical and neuro patients Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition Proficient clinical documentation and electronic charting (Meditech) Excellent communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff Compassionate patient and family education skills Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced setting Benefits Generous housing stipend and travel reimbursement to ease your move and keep you comfortable on assignment Medical, dental & vision coverage options so you stay healthy while caring for others Licensure assistance and reimbursement to help you get set up quickly Paid time off so you can recharge between assignments Supportive team environment that values compassion, collaboration, and your wellbeing Continuing education and CEU support to grow your clinical skills Referral bonus program — share the love and bring great teammates on board Professional onboarding and facility orientation so you hit the floor confident and ready Travel Perks: Explore Richmond, VA Richmond is a lively and historic river city with plenty to explore on your off days.
