Job Description Job Description Clinical Medical Support Assistant (CMSA) Location: As assigned under the Task Order (NICoE and Intrepid Spirit Centers) Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week (between 0600–1800; typical clinic hours 0700–1600) Position Overview The Clinical Medical Support Assistant (CMSA) provides essential clinical and administrative support to interdisciplinary care teams delivering evaluation and treatment services to Service Members with traumatic brain injury (TBI), Anomalous Health Incidents (AHI), and related neurological and behavioral health conditions. The CMSA supports efficient clinic operations, patient flow, documentation accuracy, and coordination of care within Military Treatment Facility (MTF) environments under the Intrepid Spirit Center (ISC) model. Key Responsibilities - Support daily clinical operations by assisting providers, nurses, and ancillary staff with patient intake, rooming, scheduling, and coordination of services. - Performance Work Statement 0814… - Prepare examination rooms, ensure availability of required supplies, and maintain clinic readiness in accordance with MTF policies and procedures. - Collect, verify, and enter patient demographic and clinical information into MHS GENESIS, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with documentation standards. - Performance Work Statement 0814… - Assist with management of referrals, follow-up appointments, diagnostic testing coordination, and interdisciplinary scheduling. - Serve as a point of contact between patients, providers, and clinic staff to facilitate communication and continuity of care. - Support maintenance and organization of electronic medical records in accordance with DHA, MTF, and Joint Commission requirements. - Performance Work Statement 0814… - Monitor clinic workflows and patient throughput, escalating issues to appropriate clinical or administrative leadership as needed. - Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, clinic huddles, and administrative coordination activities as assigned. - Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA, DoD privacy, and information security requirements. - Complete required orientation, annual training, and competency verification programs. - Utilize Government-furnished systems and equipment responsibly and strictly for official business purposes. Minimum Qualifications - Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of medical support assistant, medical administrative, or healthcare support training program preferred. - Experience: Prior experience in a clinical or medical office setting supporting patient care and administrative workflows; experience in an MTF or federal healthcare environment preferred. - Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, if required by the place of performance. - Technical Skills: Proficiency with electronic health record systems (MHS GENESIS preferred), scheduling systems, and Microsoft Office applications. - Security Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain required background investigation and installation access credentials (e.g., CAC). - Other Requirements: Ability to work under a personal services arrangement with day-to-day supervision comparable to government personnel; compliance with all MTF policies, DHA instructions, and Joint Commission standards.
