American Traveler is hiring a CVICU RN for a Ventricular Assist
Device Coordinator role requiring DC RN licensure and VAD
management experience. Responsibilities - Work in a Cardiovascular
Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) focusing on ventricular assist device
(VAD) patients - Coordinates the monitoring and care of patients
with VADs during procedures and operations - Day shift schedule
from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday - Includes weeknight
call from 5:00 pm to 8:00 am and weekend call from Friday 5:00 pm
through Monday 7:00 am - Call is remote unless on-site response is
medically necessary - Responsible for collaborating with materials
management and equipment technicians to maintain VAD inventory and
compliance with FDA recalls - VAD call responsibilities include
sitting procedures and patient education - Mandatory completion of
required modules prior to start and possibly during orientation -
Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius to qualify for
travel pay rates - Returning staff must have a minimum one-year
break from prior Medstar employment - Holiday and weekend coverage
may be required per call schedule - No more than 7 days of
requested time off allowed per 13-week contract, with no time off
in the first two weeks Requirements - Current DC RN license
required or proof of pending DC license status at time of
consideration, with license in hand before start - Basic Life
Support (BLS) certification required - Experience in CVICU nursing
with proficiency in VAD care and management - VAD Certification
preferred within 18 months of hire - Ability to educate VAD
patients in accordance with regulatory standards - Two supervisor
