George Washington University Hospital is seeking a dedicated and
experienced NICU Level III Nurse Educator to join our Professional
Development & Education team. This role is essential for ensuring
the continuous development and competency of our NICU nursing
staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background
in neonatal intensive care, excellent teaching skills, and a
passion for fostering professional growth. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs and
initiatives for NICU Level III nursing staff.
- Conduct orientation programs for new hires and ongoing training
sessions for current staff.
- Provide bedside teaching and clinical support to nursing staff
to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Collaborate with the nursing leadership team to identify
educational needs and develop strategies to meet these needs.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for NICU nurses, fostering a
supportive and learning-focused environment.
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies
and procedures that enhance nursing practice.
- Stay current with the latest developments in neonatal nursing
and incorporate evidence-based practices into educational
programs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs through

- Master's Degree in Nursing or Education or equivalent training
and experience. (candidates with current enrollment in such a
Master s program will be taken into consideration)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Current RN license in the District of Columbia or endorsement
eligible.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a Level III NICU
or higher.
- Previous experience in nursing education or staff development
preferred.
- Certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC)
preferred.
- Strong communication, presentation, and organizational
skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a
multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
