Our unit provides nursing care to medical and oncology patients in all phases of their disease process, including initial diagnosis, treatment, recurrence, and palliative and hospice care. Our care delivery model is to provide family-centered care and team up with other healthcare providers and departments for quality patient care and outcomes. The department encourages professional development by participation in monthly education programs. Obtaining specialty certifications, ADVANCE Professional Ladder and attending national conferences.As a Registered Nurse, you will provide knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patients, families, nurses and healthcare delivery teams. To help achieve our mission, you will consistently provide safe and therapeutic care in a holistic/systematic way while incorporating differences into the provision of care and conducting all patient care in a patient/family centered manner. Your ability to integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum, to include patient and family education, is of vital importance. Communicating effectively and working cooperatively with others while having respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines is required. Your ability to determine processes for delivery of care from direct patient/family communication, technology and other healthcare team member collaboration is essential.Job ResponsibilitiesPerforms comprehensive assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships.Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.Supports and empowers patients/families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end of life decisions.Advocates for patients' rights from the patient/family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues.Anticipates ethical, spiritual and cultural needs while intervening to maximize patient outcomes.
