Non-Academic Hospital Medicine Physician Opportunity -

Job duties include providing internal medicine care to patients
admitted to the non-teaching service by performing physical exams,
ordering tests, diagnosing, and treating patients and by performing
hospital rounds and planning for discharge.
Facilitate coordination and development of comprehensive and
individual plans of care in collaboration with patient, family, and
multidisciplinary team. Prepare written prescription orders,
medications, and controlled substances under D.C. and federal
rules, regulations, and law. Submit timely and complete patient
bills. Receive inpatient referrals from primary care center and
admit from emergency department. Maintain daily caseload of 10+
hospital inpatients. Position requires 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. shifts
every other week with occasional weeks of night shifts from 7 p.m.
to 7 a.m.
Contribute to the achievement of department goals and adhere to
policies, procedures, and quality and safety standards. Comply with
government and accreditation regulations. Directly supervise, as
needed, nurse practitioner working on a particular healthcare
delivery team.
Position requires MD/DO degree or foreign equivalent, plus
completion of thirty-six (36) months of ACGME-accredited internal
medicine residency. Requires valid D.C. medical license and
American Board certification (or eligibility) in internal
medicine.
Job is based at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, 110 Irving
Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20010, the largest and busiest academic
medical center in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.
