Job Description Our Mission:
The mission of Bread for the City is to help Washington, DC
residents living with low income develop the power to determine the
future of their own communities. We provide food, clothing, medical
care, and legal and social services to reduce the burden of
poverty. We seek justice through community organizing and public
advocacy. We work to uproot racism, a major cause of poverty. We
are committed to treating our clients with the dignity and respect
that all people deserve.
Provide support for clinical and health education services, as well
as perform a variety of administrative activities to support the
functioning of the clinic. -In addition, the Registered Nurse is a
member of the Bread for the City team. -In that capacity they are
expected to be familiar with the philosophy, goals and objectives
of Bread and work collaboratively to achieve them.
Clinical - - provides support during clinic hours and assists
patients with more complicated medical problems with navigating the
Triages walk-in patients and provides urgent phone advice;
Works with providers to help with medical case management for
patients with more complicated medical problems;
Assists with follow up with patients after Emergency Department
visits and hospital discharges.
Inventory oversight of ordering and tracking medications,
immunizations, and medical donations/supplies;
Supervises lab staff and oversees lab and needle exchange
Management and follow up for durable medical equipment.
Health Education - creates an atmosphere of health education
activities for patients to learn while waiting in the clinic.
Provides education and support regarding blood pressure monitors,
glucometers, and other medical devices;
Provides clinical support to front desk staff and the health
Represent the organization in a variety of coalitions to support
activities of public health;
Ensure compliance with DC Department of Health vaccination
Strong desire to work with our patient population;
Licensed RN in Washington, DC;
Candidates that speak other languages such as Spanish, Amharic, or
Mandarin are preferred;
Ability to work with volunteers and staff in a professional and
Familiarity with Google Organization & Productivity Tools (Gmail,
Google Docs, Calendar) and/or ability to learn new technology
Willingness to learn and carry out Bread for the City's commitments
to social justice and racial equity.
