SummaryThis position will play an integral role in Daiichi Sankyo,
Inc.'s increased engagement with federal and state governments,
collaborating across the organization to develop and implement
federal and state advocacy strategies that elevate our rich legacy
of innovation and robust pipeline of promising new medicines to
help patients. This position is responsible for developing and
maintaining congressional relationships and building support for
Daiichi Sankyo, Inc.'s legislative and policy priorities and
positions. This role will influence the external policy landscape
so that the value of Daiichi Sankyo, Inc.'s pipeline, portfolio,
and business is protected and enhanced so that we can bring
innovative medicines to patients who need them.
Responsibilities
- With internal experts, rapidly review and analyze legislation and
amendments that could impact DSI's portfolio, pipeline, and
business, as well as patients and key provider groups
- Identify and implement strategies to positively shape or mitigate
legislation and regulations
- Engage with PhRMA, HINJ, and external stakeholders to elevate
DSI's interests
- Proactively engage with internal experts to understand business
issues and interests, and collaborate to identify and assess
priorities and risks
- Communicate internally on a regular basis to keep leaders
informed of legislative and policy developments
- Maintain and develop relationships with Members of Congress,
their staff, and relevant Committee staff to promote DSI's
legislative and policy priorities and reputation
- Track legislation and identify opportunities and risks to DSI
products, pipeline and business
- Interact with consultants to track developments and ensure
strategies are executed
- Flexible work schedule, including evenings and occasional weekend
eventsQualifications: Successful candidates will be able to meet
the qualifications below with or without a reasonable
accommodation.Education Qualifications (from an accredited college
or university)
- Bachelor's Degree requiredExperience Qualifications
- 7 or More Years Legislative, executive branch, government
affairs, and/or pharmaceutical industry experience required
- Experience with the federal legislative process, including
knowledge of committee procedures, protocols, and ethics rules and
regulations required
- Experience engaging with PhRMA and/or other life science trade
organizations preferred
- Strong understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry and
related political environment preferred
- Demonstrated relationships in Congress and with key external
stakeholders preferred
- Solid political judgment and strategic thinker with ability to
identify potential risks and opportunities for DSI interests
preferredTravelAbility to travel up to 20%. Travel for conferences
and business meetings as necessary; optimal candidate is located in
