As part of a small company, we strive to be a different kind of company, and to listen to the voices of our team and their experiences so that we can incorporate new technology and broaden our impact to improve the built environment in a more efficient manner.Position Overview:The Vice President, Business Development, ("VP,BD") will focus on developing a robust pipeline of Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy ("C-PACE") transactions by leveraging close relationships with commercial property owners, as well as high-quality capital markets focused channel partner relationships within assigned territories. The VP, BD will manage their growing pipeline of relationships to generate a consistent volume of high-quality prospective deals to successful closings with the Originations department. The sourcing, qualification and engagement of commercial building owners and channel partners will be achieved utilizing your personal network, engagement with a local PACE program, a variety of corporate marketing campaigns, trade associations and industry event participation as well as direct outbound engagement.Reporting directly to the Senior VP, Chief Revenue Officer, the VP, BD will work closely in concert with the Company's channel management team, origination team, credit team, finance team, government relations team and marketing team to ensure efficient development in relationships through key stages to maximize a consistent flow of closings through such relationships. This position requires a highly motivated, mission-driven disciplined and detail-oriented individual who is comfortable managing multiple relationships in a faced-paced, dynamic and ever-changing environment. Negotiation, time management, organizational and superior communication skills are essential attributes.Qualifications:1. 10-15+ years' experience in outside sales with a proven record of generating a robust pipeline and successful with closings.2. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in commercial real estate, CRE Broker, Capital Markets, or Non-Traditional Lending. MBA preferred. Government relations experience a plus.---3. Knowledge of PACE financing and legal/program framework, renewable energy, energy efficiency concepts and technologies, sustainable building methods, energy markets, and applicable regulations a plus.4. Significant network of qualified relationships with decision makers in the Company's target markets.5. Ability to persistently and productively research, contact and engage warm and cold sales leads and be customer obsessed.6. Superior written and verbal communication skills as well as a confident public speaker.7. Superior negotiation skills with the ability to persuade (and educate) clients to fund their projects with PACE.8. Experience with customer relationship management software (e.g., SalesForce).9. Exceptional organization and time management skills.10. Proven ability to interact with C-Suite level.11. Ability to work remotely and travel a significant percentage of time (up to 80%) within the candidate's territory plus, attend industry and association conferences and events.Job Responsibilities:1. Client and partner development:- Independently identify, assess and engage new and existing owners and channel partners that fit the Company's target framework (e.g., highest-need customers, partners with greatest ability to scale).- Chart and implement strategic development initiatives with channel partners and property owners in concert with the Company's channel management and marketing team.2. Close coordination and teamwork to optimize relationship and transaction development:- Work closely with the origination team to facilitate their quick pricing and structuring of transactions.- After the first few deals from a new relationship, facilitate a "hand off" of partner and owner relationships to the origination team to facilitate direct & immediate interaction on pricing and structuring future transaction submissions.- Oversee the origination team's management of the VP's transactions to support timely movement through each stage toward closing.- Proactively manage relationship-level discussions as needed and support the origination and credit team if needed regarding any sensitive client discussions that occur in the project screening or underwriting phase.3. Program Management Support:- Support the Company's Program Management / Government Relations team by serving as the local ‘face' of the Company at State and Local meetings that require Company presence.- Proactively engage with local Program Management firms/employees to ensure consistent referral of prospective transactions or direct client engagement.4. Information and data management:- Demonstrate a sense of rigor and urgency in regularly reviewing the VP's relationship pipeline and transaction pipeline to ensure: (i) consistent progress is made; (ii) minimal "stale" information is reflected in our systems; and (iii) minimum gaps in time exist with regard to following up on partner and owner meetings and initiatives.- Keep timely and accurate data in SFDC and in our Company network drive related to important relationship information (conversations, client data).5. Engage with market participants, industry groups, and regulators towards being a subject matter expert and be current with industry thinking and trends.Signs of Success:1. The volume of executed Letters of Intent and closings elevates markedly in the VP's territory.2. There is measurable and consistent growth in the VP's transaction pipeline through all stages (pre-qualified lead > qualified lead > application > LOI > processing > underwriting > commitment) with reliable deal flow and closed transactions continually building.3. The number of partner & owner relationships that fit squarely in the target framework (ideal customers and partners generating repeat business flow) grows significantly within the VP's territory.4. The conversion rates on transactions in all stages increases noticeably, and time frames for movement between stages shortens measurably as the result of the VP's strong relationship development and management skills.5. The VP demonstrates mastery of our product offerings, process and procedures.6. The VP creates and maintains strong peer support and a positive working relationship with all team members.7. Information and data related to owners and partners is consistently recorded, tracked and updated in CAFÉ (Our instance of SalesForce), including notable owner and partner meetings and phone calls as "activities" within Salesforce.Compensation & Benefits:1.
