SUMMARY The Community Foundation is looking for a proactive,
impact-driven leader with a collaborative style to serve as a
member of its Executive and Leadership Team; lead its Community
Investment Team and other cross-functional teams; oversee its
grant-making programs, collaboratives and partnerships, and
strategic initiatives. The candidates' values and commitment to the
community will align with the Community Foundation's mission,
vision, and values and our organization's unique role as an asset
manager, donor services anchor, and investor for community impact.
The ideal candidate will be someone who effectively manages
dynamics of power and privilege in all interactions, engages with
people with intercultural competency, and builds authentic
relationships with diverse communities. We are looking for
candidates with a developed racial equity analysis even as we're
all evolving in our understanding of what it means to build a
racially equitable and just society. Our preference is for a
candidate with experience in practices that will help us reach our
North star to increase economic mobility and close our region's
racial wealth gap. In addition to the duties described in this
position description, every role at The Community Foundation is
expected to contribute to the overall success of the organization
and its goals. This may mean that team members will be asked to
take on other tasks that may not be listed here. Examples may
include working on a project or specific task outside of your
standard area of responsibility, participation in an
organization-wide task force or special initiative or being asked
to support a colleague when needed. Any additional tasks will be
determined by the manager of this role in coordination with the
leadership team.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS &
RESPONSIBILITIESLeadership
- Organizational Leadership as a member of the Community
Foundation's Strategy and Leadership Team, you'll use your
knowledge and experience to help make organizational decisions that
align with the Community Foundation's priorities and values,
develop experiences that build the intercultural competency of the
Community Foundation's team and community partners; and lead
internal cross-functional teams. You'll also play a key role in
strategic planning, program and policy design, and evaluation.
- The role will drive our programmatic agenda and pilot
initiatives linked to our new strategic plan; and work with teams
to align and re-orient existing bodies of work with the 10-year
plan.
- The role will support the Community Investment committee of the
board and broader-based board education and development on
community issues.
- Working in close coordination with our President & CEO to
develop key relationships and partnerships with City and County
leaders, our peers in philanthropy, and national funders.
- The candidate leads externally facing work and will be an
internal champion and leader of our strategic agenda and
programmatic interventions.
- Along with the CEO, this role supports our REI workgroup and
broader agenda. Regularly participates in discussions pertaining to
the strategic vision. Team Building and Staff Development
- Supervise staff to ensure performance excellence, alignment,
and integration with the organizational priorities. For the team
and its individual members, you'll facilitate orientation and
training, plan and review work, establish priorities, supervise
projects, and conduct performance evaluations.

- Oversees and periodically reviews processes for department
hiring, onboarding, and training to better support high-quality
customer service to fundholders. Philanthropy and Grant Making
- Oversee the distribution of grants, reporting on grantmaking
and other strategic investments, including public policy, advocacy,
and the convening of stakeholders.
- Participate in the alignment of asset growth and sustainability
goals.
- Understand and participate in implementing technology systems
used in philanthropy and grant-making.
- Serves as a front-facing campaign officer for our capital
campaign, Together We Prosper.Development of Programmatic Work
- Facilitate the development of grantmaking strategies and
implementation plans for programs and initiatives across
departments in partnership with colleagues. Can make connections of
current work to The Community Foundation's strategy and translation
of that work to the external community to identify continued
support.
- Work with the Development Team to evaluate funding
opportunities for introducing The Community Foundation programs,
initiatives, and services to funders and donors. Engage in
presentations with investors as needed.CEO, Board and Funders
- Collaborate with the President/CEO, board of trustees, and
community partners to develop and implement long-term solutions to
significant community issues such as infant mortality, hunger, and
other disparities related to race, sexual orientation, and
education, to name a few.
- Along with the President & CEO, serve as a spokesperson for the
Foundation in the community and the media for program-related
activities, fundraising, and for representational purposes. Be an
effective voice, champion, partner, and servant-leader. Fund
Management
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive programs related
to the Community Foundation's grantmaking and programmatic
initiatives related to the Community Foundation's priorities of
equity and philanthropy.
- Manages and leads Community Investment grant funds, including
investment monitoring, annual reports, donor reports, and board
updates. Work closely with finance and operations to review fund
levels before finalizing commitments. Oversees annual discretionary
grant budgets and planning. Understanding the Local Landscape
- On local, state, and regional levels, you'll maintain and build
effective relationships with grant recipients, grant seekers,
funders, community partners, government, and affinity groups to
leverage resources and maximize the Community Foundation's
impact.
