Job Description:
Our Finance team at TEGNA is looking for an Internal Audit
Manager to lead the planning, scoping, execution and reporting of
financial, operational, and IT audits. This is a high visibility
opportunity where you will gain valuable exposure to many areas
within our business and make improvements that make a real
difference. As Internal Audit Manager, you will report to the VP
Internal Audit and will be responsible for the planning and
management of quality audit engagements and management of the
staff. In addition, the Internal Audit Manager will assist with the
implementation of the overall strategy of the department and
driving department initiatives. This opportunity to join TEGNA as
Internal Audit Manager provides visibility to TEGNA operations and
regular interaction with personnel from various disciplines
/functional areas. The role provides you with an opportunity to
gain an understanding of our organization's objectives, risk
management environment, and the diverse needs of their critical
stakeholders. In short, we seek to address the right risks and
ultimately add value to our company. Located in the brand new,
state-of-the-art Boro Tower in the heart of Tysons, in addition to
joining a great company and team, you'll also have a large
assortment of services and amenities right at your front door. We
have a hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote
each week. Responsibilities:
- Manage the internal audit team and Big 4 co-sourcing
relationship
- Support the annual risk assessment process and assist with the
development of the annual audit plan
- Manage the planning and execution of detailed audits to ensure
risks are addressed and procedures are executed appropriately.
- Identify financial statement errors and internal control
weaknesses and develop meaningful recommendations for
improvement.
- Collaborate with TEGNA's external audit firm to effectively
audit key controls over financial reporting and IT general
controls.
- Communicate and interact effectively (both orally & in writing)
with stakeholders/ Use excellent writing skills to succinctly
communicate technical issues in business terms.
- Facilitate meetings with all levels of management to agree on
solutions and verify that risks are mitigated appropriately.
- Participate in special projects as needed (e.g.,
implementations) Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 5+ years of experience with auditing, risk management, and/or
IT auditing
- Relevant Certifications (CPA, CISA)
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with employees
of all levels at TEGNA
- Strong risk management experience, including performing risk
assessments, designing audit plans, managing enterprise control
frameworks, and prioritizing risk
- Proven history of identifying meaningful recommendations
- Strong project and time management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Ability to travel occasionally (5%)Work Environment: Office
