About the Position

The Manager, Visual Design is primarily responsible for overseeing a team of designers and ensuring consistency of the NCARB brand. This role:

  • Leads a team of three visual designers
  • Helps set the artistic direction for the organization and oversees visual brand and sub-brand guidelines
  • Ensures design deliverables are developed and delivered on time and to a high standard

        Duties

        • Manage NCARB's design team to help them meet goals and deadlines, demonstrate the highest level of expertise in their work, identify and address gaps, and continually challenge themselves to expand their skills and expertise.
        • Manage brand guidelines, including sub-brands, to ensure consistent use of assets internally and externally and ensure appropriate materials are brand compliant.
        • Lead design team critiques to provide feedback on designs and videos during the development process and assist in determining next steps.
        • Ensure quality, accessibility, and visual brand consistency across multiple communication channels and messages.
        • Manage the planning, design, production, and delivery aspects of major NCARB initiatives and campaigns, including developing and sharing strategy and graphics with relevant stakeholders, and effectively meet deadlines.
        • Assist with the design and create visual solutions for various publications and communications materials as needed.
        • Consult with and keep the M&C leadership team informed of the development and implementation of all design and production work.
        • Help the team's workflow process run smoothly and find ways to improve the process and procedures.
        • Continually monitor the horizon for the latest content innovation, best practices, and trends, and assess feasibility and relevance for NCARB.
          Qualifications

          • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Communications, or related field; or a combination of substantial related experience, training, and education may substitute.
          • Seven (7) or more years of relevant graphic design experience in digital and print design production or related fields, including collaborating with other design professionals.
          • Proven problem-solving skills; and superior communication skills.
          • Ability to think big picture and strategically while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
          • Demonstrated proficiency using technology and a wide variety of software applications, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, and Acrobat) and Microsoft Office, (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
          • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro a bonus.
          • Experience with front-end web design, motion graphics, and video production is preferred.
          • Familiarity with Agile Processes, project planning, and oversight at the team level is a bonus.
          • Photography skills preferred.
          • Some minimal travel including weekends may occasionally be required. Benefits
