Job DescriptionSOME (So Others Might Eat) exists to help the homeless and poor of Washington, DC. With over 30 programs throughout the District of Columbia, we provide a wide spectrum of services to the most vulnerable individuals and families of our city. We strive to provide success paths toward mental and physical health, continued sobriety, job training and employment with a living wage, affordable housing, and ultimately living independently and confidently. Submission of Covid-19 Vaccination Card is required.SOME (So Others Might Eat) is currently seeking a full-time Night Manager for our new housing program located on Kansas Avenue in NW Washington, DC. Stellar benefits, team environment, and steady pay!Position Description: The Night Manager lives on-site and maintains security of the facility during off hours. Provides upkeep of facility and maintenance activities to provide a comfortable, clean, and dignified home for residents. Performs light cleaning of building and grounds and provides light facilities maintenanceSchedule: 40 hours per week; evenings, overnight and weekendsQualifications: Required: HS Degree/GED; 1-3 years janitorial experience. Must be willing to undergo an FBI Criminal background check. MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO LIVE ON THE PROPERTYPreferred: 3-5 years janitorial experience; experience providing services to low-income populations, families, and seniorsRequired License/Certification: CPR/First Aid, AED Certification, Driver's LicenseKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of basic cleaning and maintenance techniques
  • Ability to establish and adhere to strong professional boundaries
  • Good customer service skills
  • Flexibility with the ability to multi-task despite competing priorities
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to read and write
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work tasks
  • Ability to work independently and work in a team environment
  • Ability to de-escalate situations and resolve conflict effectively
  • Ability to have sensitive and appropriate communication with diverse audiences
  • Basic computer skills
  • Effective time management skillsExpected Contributions:
    • Safety Management: Supervise and circulate the building. Maintain a visitors log and record any usual incidents or violations. Assist with resident lock-outs and emergency situations as needed
    • Program Management: On occasion perform resident drug and alcohol testing. Participate in scheduled building meetings.
