Job Description:
Position Purpose Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic
Partnerships in the Strategic Partnerships Division, the Director,
Donor Experience manages and sustains a comprehensive and robust
development program for the association, with a particular focus on
donor relations. This position will work with the CASE President
and CEO, Board leaders, Vice President, Strategic Partners, and
members of the Executive Leadership Team to reach out to
corporations, foundations, NGOs, and others who share a vision to
act as a catalyst to advance education worldwide and to inspire,
challenge, and equip communities of professionals to act
effectively to champion the success of their institutions. This
position will also manage and maintain relationships with CASE
donors, ensuring each donor is effectively stewarded with the goal
of establishing long-term, enduring relationships. Essential
Functions The core functions of this position include but are not
limited to the following:
Program/Activity Management Collaborates with CASE colleagues to
help ensure implementation of CASE objectives, by: Managing global
development program. Work with the President and CEO and Vice
President of Strategic Partnerships to craft and implement a
sophisticated, multi-year, international fundraising strategy that
will result in sustainable, long-term growth in philanthropic
contributions and enduring relationships with donors.
Systematically support the engagement, solicitation, and
stewardship of current and new donors, targeting those who share
the goals and values CASE projects as a worldwide brand. Help grow
philanthropic income to agreed targets on an annual basis by
setting clearly defined and measurable goals. Maintain
communication and strong working relationships with the executive
directors and appropriate staff in the Washington, D.C., London,
Singapore, and Mexico City offices.
Identify and pursue grant and funding opportunities. Work with the
Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and CASE--------s senior
staff to develop priority cases for support and identify
corporations and foundations and other potential donors that might
provide additional philanthropic support to the organization. In
conjunction with the vice president, develop and write grant and
funding proposals. Conduct annual appeals to key stakeholders.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of potential donors.
Support CASE leadership on fundraising opportunities. Advise and
support the President and CEO, Vice President of Strategic
Partnerships, and other senior volunteers/staff worldwide in
activities that support the philanthropic goals of CASE.
Oversee Planned Giving Program. Manage and promote CASE--------s
planned giving program, including the cultivation of new donors
interested in considering a planned gift through their will or
estate plan.
Steward existing donors. Develop and implement strategies to
effectively steward current donors to CASE with the goal of
ensuring long-term, enduring relationships. This includes frequent
outreach, engagement, and communication with existing donors and
ongoing maintenance of donor records, files, and agreements. Work
with Volunteer and Member Engagement staff to steward donors to
various scholarship programs.
Plan and direct marketing and communications to donors. Collaborate
with CASE marketing staff to develop and distribute effective
communications vehicles related to development, including materials
to market and position CASE opportunities for potential donors.
Write and edit proposals. Plan and help develop marketing materials
to recruit new donors. Maintain and update the giving to CASE
section of the CASE website.
Support a culture of philanthropy within CASE globally. Since CASE
seeks to fundraise globally, work with colleagues in all offices to
build and support the association--------s philanthropic culture.
Help foster an appreciation for philanthropy and giving back to the
association among CASE volunteers and staff worldwide. Division
Support Work collaboratively with advocacy, corporate relations,
and other teams and colleagues within the Strategic Partnerships
division.Actively contribute in meetings to help advance the
critical work of the division. Fiscal Management/Budget
Responsibilities/Judicious Use of Resources Exercises fiscal
responsibility in using of all CASE resources. Liaison
Responsibilities Works cooperatively and diplomatically with all
divisions and regions.Liaises with CASE colleagues in other parts
of the world to ensure the best sharing of ideas, expertise, and
knowledge.Incorporates tasks and/or projects related to objectives
as directed by the CASE Strategic Plan. Image Responsibilities
In keeping with the CASE Values Statement, ensures that CASE is
well represented by exercising a high degree of professionalism,
accuracy, and ethics, in all activities, services, and
products.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the
manager.
Job Complexity and Knowledge (FOR MANAGERS AND ABOVE) The Director,
Donor Experience receives broad direction from the Vice President
of Strategic Partnerships and is otherwise expected to work with a
high level of autonomy and independence, discretion,
confidentiality, and diplomacy. The position interacts with CASE
staff from across the world, and may come into contact with senior
volunteers, members, and other high level external key
stakeholders. The Director, Donor Experience will be responsible
for his/her own time management and planning tasks to ensure the
key responsibilities are met. Problem Solving and Judgment High
level judgment and problem-solving skills are required, as the
incumbent is frequently faced with situations which require
immediate action in response to issues and requests. The breadth
and depth of understanding of an issue and the key
internal/external persons handling the issue, and the way in which
the issue is handled, all affect the outcome of the situation.
Professional and Organizational Knowledge The position requires
that the incumbent quickly develop a deep understanding of CASE,
its policies and procedures and an understanding of the culture and
regional and divisional interdependencies.The position requires a
deep understanding and respect for CASE--------s systems and
workflow.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience: Bachelor--------s
degree and five or more years of progressive and relevant work
experience, preferably in fundraising in an association,
advancement, education or other nonprofit environment.
Skills and Abilities: A demonstrated interest in advancing
education in the not-for-profit sector.A strong commitment to
contributing to a culture that celebrates diversity and
inclusion.An understanding and interest in engaging with a broad
range of cultures and countries.A strong interest in
philanthropy.Experience writing successful grant and funding
proposals.A high quality of written and verbal
communications.Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising principles,
practices, techniques, and current trends.Proven ability to work
independently and collaboratively.Strong organizational and project
management skills, including the ability to manage multiple
priorities and deadlines.Strong financial management
skills.Experience working with systems and databases to track and
report information.Experience in an international environment
desired.Education-related experience a plus.Must have a strong
