About the role:
The role of the Marketing & Communications team at Tent is to raise and protect the reputation of the organisation in our key markets (North America, South America + Western Europe), and to encourage more action by more companies to improve the lives of refugees around the world. Were a small, supportive, tight-knit team and have lots of exciting communications activities planned for 2022, including a lot of engagement in the US. We are now looking to bolster the team with a smart, proactive, professional, and organised communications all-rounder - with a focus on press and social media - committed to our cause to drive forward this work in the US and around the world.
This role will report into the Director of Public Engagement and work closely with the Senior Manager, Events and Digital. This person will be responsible for planning and executing a range of communications activities, including press, speaker platforms, community management, and external and internal announcements.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with the Director of Public Engagement, Senior Manager of Events and Digital, Tent partners, and Tents communications agencies to implement our integrated communications strategy, including:

  • Lead on our press engagement strategy for the US, raising Tents profile on refugee issues, and positioning Tent as the leader in how businesses can support refugees; build relationships with key national, regional, and trade press
  • Support on our press engagement in other key markets (via PR agencies) in e.g. Canada, UK, France, Germany, Colombia
  • Draft press releases, reactive Q&As, and other press materials
  • Support in the preparation of spokespeople ahead of press interviews
  • Oversee communications around some of Tents key milestone moments (e.g. company announcements)
  • Stay on top of the news agenda as it relates to refugees and ensure the whole Tent team is up to date with the latest news and trends
    Social Media
    • Alongside the Senior Manager, Events and Digital, carry out the day-to-day community management across Tents social channels (LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram)
    • Work with the Senior Manager, Events and Digital and the Director of Public Engagement to set our social media strategy, creating content that resonates with our key audiences (businesses) and growing our audiences across all our channel
    • Deliver monthly social media analysis and analytics to inform our social and digital strategy
      Other comms responsibilities
      • Set a speaker platforms strategy for 2022, identifying and securing relevant speaker opportunities that raise Tents profile among business audiences and other stakeholders across Tents key markets
      • Support in the editing process of Tent research papers and best practice resources, working alongside the Senior Manager, Research and Communications
      • Draft and upload content for Tents website and Members Hub
      • Work with production partners on developing multimedia collateral e.g. films, photography
      • Provide ongoing support to the Director of Public Engagement as needed
        Desired experience & skills
        • Second-to-none English language writing and presenting skills - native English fluency is an absolute must
        • Approx. 4 years of relevant experience either in a communications agency, in-house, or in a journalism role
        • A solid understanding of the media landscape + journalist relationships in the US; in other key markets highly desired
        • Experience in managing, delivering and overseeing high-quality high-profile media launches a must
        • Experience working with businesses and communicating to a corporate audience highly desired
        • Impeccable project management skills; experience seeing through complex projects from beginning to end
        • Written and spoken fluency in a second language relevant to Tent (Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Dutch) an added bonus
        • Experience in managing up and communicating with all levels of an organizationDesired qualities
          • An entrepreneurial self-starter, able to work independently, who enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
          • An innovative thinker, with a track record of translating strategic thinking into action plans and output
