Our Core Values are the standards by which we conduct ourselves day in and day out, both internally and externally.The Public Sector Financial Reporting Director is responsible for being a subject matter expert in Federal Financial Reporting and for growing the BDO federal business through development and delivery of federal accounting and reporting solutions. Will be responsible for leading the client service delivery of all financial accounting and reporting engagements, including serving as a subject matter expert in FASAB, GAAP, and GAGAS. Will be a critical part of the leadership team with responsibility to develop people, solutions and opportunities for growth.Business Development:- Manages overall business development approach, plan, and execution for the Public Sector.- Develops positioning and go-to-market approach- Develops and implements the sales strategy and business plans for identifying, pursuing and acquiring federal government contracts to expand BDO's market share within the Federal Government through:--- Development of and the leveraging of relationships with the BDO Alliance, industry contacts and networking opportunities;--- Research, lead generation and pipeline management;--- Development of service proposals and management of proposal process for federal contracts; and--- Management of database of federal contract opportunities proposals and acquisitions- Oversees, manages and participates in marketing and branding initiatives for the Public Sector and its programs, initiatives and services- Manages the development of proposal responses, serving as a Technical leader and SME, as well as a proposal manager and coordination of responses. Practice Development:- Manages overall practice development approach, plan, and execution for the Public Sector- Directs overall personnel development approach to achieve individual and practice professional growth- Directs the practice personnel to achieve annual and quarterly revenue metrics/goals and objectives to drive increased revenue- Performs analysis of practice performance at the office, regional and national levels and provides results to BDO leadership- Evaluates and defines the services the practice will offer to federal agencies- Manages BDO's government contract vehicles and registrations to provide opportunities to expand the volume of clients and ensure compliance with federal regulations- Guides Public Sector participation on all GSA audit efforts, including both pre- and post-award audits - Partners with in-house and external counsel to guarantee compliance with contracting rules and regulationsEngagement Delivery:- Supervises practice engagements and ensures a high-level of service is provided to clients- Participates in the development of process guidelines to be utilized by the Public Sector personnel in servicing prospective and current clients Other duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibilities:- Guides and supervises Public Sector direct reports- Evaluates the performance of Public Sector direct reports and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development for all Public Sector staff- Collaborates with Office Business Line Leaders and Human Capital to interview, hire and terminate employees- Acts as mentor / career advisor to Public Sector management and staff as appropriate- Provides professional growth and career advancement opportunities for Public Sector management and staffQualificationsEducation:- Bachelors degree in Accounting other related field required- Advanced degree preferredExperience:- Eight (8) or more years of federal accounting experience required- Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in leading financial reporting projects in the federal market- Experience with federal financial management and analysis, federal financial statements preparations, U.S. Treasury financial related systems, and OMB Circular A-123 compliance required.- Experience with regulations set by the Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Act, Federal Managers Financial Integrity Act (FMFIA), Federal Financial Management Improvement Act (FFMIA), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), US Government Accountability Office (GAO), and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as set forth by the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB) is REQUIRED. Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) experience a plus.- Experience in financial statement compilation and reporting process as well as audit response and remediation in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or Statements of Federal Financial Accounting Standards (SFFAS) required.- Prior experience with federal government proposals required.License/Certifications:- Licensed CPA strongly preferred- CDFM or CGFM a plus- PMP certification a plusSoftware:- Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suites, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word preferred- Knowledge of, and experience with, federal ERP systems a plusOther Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a public trust or above security clearance- Excellent leadership skills- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation and facilitation aptitude- Advanced knowledge and experience with development, management and execution of sales processes including lead generation, pipeline management, accounting planning and sales strategies- Strong business acumen and ability to effectively communicate BDO's business, marketplace and value proposition- Ability to provide business development consultation to partners and managers in pursuit of accomplishing business results- Capable of working in a demanding, deadline-driven environment while handling multiple projects simultaneously and managing a diverse staff to accomplish desired results- Capacity to successfully negotiate contracts while meeting all government regulations- Experience with business development and proposal development processCity: McLeanState: VirginiaAuto req ID: 21016BR
