The American Psychiatric Association (APA), the main professional
organization of psychiatrists and trainee psychiatrists in the
United States, and the largest psychiatric organization in the
world, is seeking an exceptional and motivated candidate to serve
as the Senior Program Manager, Governance within the Division of
Diversity and Health Equity (DDHE). The incumbent will assist the
Division Chief by being the primary staff liaison to DDHE liaised
assembly, councils, caucuses, committees, workgroups, etc. (e.g.,
Assembly Committee M/UR, Council on Minority Mental Health and
Health Disparities, Council on Children, Adolescents, and Their
Families, and Minority and Underrepresented (M/UR) Caucuses) to
support a governance framework that ensures a timely and responsive
feedback loop. Responsibilities of this position are in alignment
with the APA's fourth strategic initiative of supporting and
increasing diversity within APA; serving the needs of evolving,
diverse, underrepresented and underserved patient populations; and
working to end disparities in mental health care. The incumbent may
perform other duties as assigned that are related to the
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as staff liaison for the division's assigned assembly,
councils, caucuses, committees, and workgroups, etc. (e.g., Council
on Minority Mental Health and Health Disparities, Council on
Children, Adolescents, and Their Families, Council on Geriatric
Psychiatry, Assembly Committee of Representatives of Minority and
Confer with chairpersons to establish strategies, agendas, meeting
minutes, work plans and timelines.
Plan meetings and facilitate member participation.
Write and submit a variety of component documents, such as
Distribute communication to APA councils and committees on behalf
of APA administration, as needed.
Maintain respective component rosters, updating as needed.
Track component assignments and referrals to ensure
Collaborate with other APA offices and components regarding
overlapping activities and interests.
Support the activities of the Councils, where applicable.
Support the activities of the Caucuses (e.g., management of
listservs), where applicable.
Contribute to the creation, production and oversee programs and
products of the APA's DDHE.
Monitor development and progress of resources.
Review and edit the contents of resources.
Coordinate off-site and onsite meetings.
