The Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief Engineer is seeking an exceptional General Engineer or Architect to support the project development lifecycle through the renewal, renovation, and maintenance of some of the Nation's most treasured assets. The selectee will lead a group of project managers in the completion of construction project delivery from initial scope development through design implementation and award of construction contracts.You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. It is available for your review on the OPM web site at .Specialized experience: is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.Candidates for the GS-14 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower (GS-13) grade level in the Federal service.Specialized experience for this position must demonstrate the following:

  • Managing construction projects from initial scope development through design implementation and award of construction contracts.
  • Providing leadership and administrative direction for projects and program activities, staff, and resources, including costs, design, and contractor performance.
  • Preparing, administering, and managing program budget.
  • Communicating project/program information effectively to a full range of internal and external individuals or groups (e.g., congressional members and staff, congressional committees, stakeholders, industry leaders, and representatives of other Federal agencies).
