Principal Engineer - Primary Plant at our Perth office, on a
permanent basis.
About this role As the Principal Engineer - Primary Plant, you will
be accountable for providing technical leadership and significant
guidance, advice, and counsel over the whole-of-life performance
management (including the day-to-day operations) of the entire
Transmission asset base. With a remit to ensure the cost-effective
integrity of the transmission assets, this position requires deep
specialty knowledge of power transformers and / or other
transmission primary assets, dealing with complex asset maintenance
engineering challenges while providing technical mentoring and
assistance across the asset management function. Other duties
include:
- Leads the Root Cause Analysis on all sporadic (large scale)
asset failures using agreed methods, to define the root causes of
the failure, and then provide the maintenance / engineering /
process or people solutions to reduce future likelihood.
- Provides technical and process leadership and guidance to all
Operational Asset Performance Transmission asset custodians
carrying out chronic (recurring) failure investigations.
- Assists the Operational Asset Performance Transmission team in
the evaluation of primary assets condition and remnant asset life,
as and when required during crisis situations (call outs and
repairs) and/or for asset replacement planning. -
- Research and identify advanced condition monitoring techniques
for cost effective management of transmission asset
reliability.
- Management of all non-compliance issues on behalf of
management.
- Provides mentoring of Operational Asset Performance
Transmission team members for the creation of rigorous and concise
Issue Briefing Papers to justify and commence asset
management/replacement investment (i.e., CAPEX investment).
- Works through 2-year CAPEX plans to provide detailed and
cost-effective options; working across Operational Asset
Performance Transmission, and key internal stakeholders such as
Network Planning and Network Operations where required. About you
We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree - essential
- Registered member of Engineers Australia as Chartered
professional engineer - essential
- 15 + years comprehensive and broad engineering experience
- Specialist asset class knowledge
- Strong financial analysis skills, demonstrating business
